CELEBRATIONS: Cinco de Mayo Succulent Cans

It’s almost Cinco de Mayo friends! In honor of the Mexican holiday which is widely celebrated here in Southern California, I whipped up some fun Salsa Can Succulents and decorated them with some diy papel picado flags.

This brand of salsa is sold in grocery stores in my area and I bought the small 7-3/4 ounce size cans. It’s not really salsa, it’s tomato sauce used for cooking yummy Mexican dishes. Think tomato sauce with a kick!

I have plenty of succulents on my patio so it was just a matter of choosing which ones I wanted to clip and plant.

I liked this fierce little guy. I found him in a pot I had neglected for months happily growing next to his mom.

The other two plants are some of my favorite succulents. I love the pale green and pink tones of the middle plant and the leggy plant reminds me of seaweed.

For a festive touch, I made some miniature papel picado flags. Papel picado means “perforated paper” and it a traditional folk art in Mexico.

I love these fun, festive little planters. They would make great party décor or party favors for your next fiesta!
