Education: Innovative Design & A Break From The Centralized Paradigm!

Who has a better understanding of your local education needs; a federal technocrat, a predatory monopolist looking looking to feed at the public trough or you?

As the Federal Governments centralized paradigm fails, real solutions will be found within local communities. Advocates and entrepreneurs will rise to the occasion as champions of real change, offering educational options that best serves each community’s needs. I was lifted by the ideals of the video but cringing at the same time.  Is this possible in today’s centrally controlled system?  The idea of diverse private schools is good.   And while privatization seems like a great idea the loudest voices pushing for it have no mind for free market competition or diversity of choice.  Those who are quick to place blame on public schools are the very powers that forged the current system they now claim privatization can fix.

In concept; Innovative Education is fantastic.  Its integration into the classroom can mark a transformation of the educational process.  However, what independent sincere people like Mickey McManus proposes is being co-opted by an old few who have, from industry to industry, bought their way into monopolistic positions.  Through the policy making process they have forged politically strong corporate / government partnerships that kills free market competition and consolidates their power.

These politically powerful individuals profess to be ‘champions’ of ‘free market education’.  They are not.  They are monopolist.  They do not share the ideals of decentralized competition or free choice.  They do not wish to promote rising standards.  Their premiss has more to do with creating a no bid monopolistic industry the likes of which gave us Halliburton, KBR and Blackwater.  This scourge of free market capitalisn is corporatocracy.  It is what Catherine Austin Fits calls Piratization rather than Privatization.  They wish not for “free market competition” but, will enthrone homogenized corporations that extract rents as they feed at the public trough.

Rent extraction is in essence, a transfer of wealth and these folks are getting good at it.  Without true free market competition, where weak schools fail and world class schools thrive, extraction will trump education.  Therefore, it is up to the citizens of every local community to see that local firms and those others with the communities best interest at heart are those who will serve you.
