Continuing the Kansien approach will kick the can down the road a bit further (only about 3-7 years) but will ultimately result in a much more catastrophic collapse. The more responsible and ultimately infinitely better approach would be to simply rip the bandage off now.
Stop the deficit spending!!! Drastically cut back on ALL government services and agencies including the military (austerity), eliminate 95% of regulation and restrictions on businesses, place huge tariffs on all imports (except energy) for all countries who are antagonistic to the US, who practice unfair trade policies, or who are not free and open.
We also need to open our domestic energy policy to allow drilling, mining, and developing virtually everywhere in the US. In addition to this we need to find economic ways to encourage ways to develop alternate, renewable, energy sources in the US. In time this will ease much of the need for imported oil.
The argument that new wells will not produce oil for seven years has been repeated by the Democrats for so long it has become a cliché. I should not need to remind people that if we had not catered to the Leftists in the past we would be floating in oil now instead of importing it at enormous costs; much of our wealth flowing to countries that hate us!
Will the elimination of a Trillion dollars of borrowed money a year put us in a Depression that will take years to come out of? The answer to this question is almost certainly yes! However, if we do not follow this approach we will DEFINITELY slip into a Depression that we will certainly NEVER recover from!!!
Had we followed this approach 4 years ago the pain would have been immediate and deep, but far shorter lived. We would probably be coming out of it now, far stronger and positioned then when we went in, instead of facing only bad options and a far bleaker future!
Act now, act boldly, and act decisively and we will have a brighter future (eventually). Fail to act and all will be lost!
