Ronald Reagan vs Donald Trump

When I was 18 years old, I was able to vote in my first election, and back then I thought that my vote actually counted, but let’s set that aside for a minute. In 1980 the country was a totally different world as there were no cell phones, no home computers, interest rates were close to 20% (not ZIRP – zero percent interest rate) like today, gas was 89 cents a gallon which we thought was high, and the bank paid you close to 5% compounded interest in a savings account, and a two bedroom two bath 1200 sq. ft. home was around $70,000 in the good parts of valley like Chatsworth or Woodland Hills.

At the same time the country was in stagflation, we had just experienced massive inflation from the seventies, music was moving into new wave from the mega bands of the seventies, a quarter ounce of indica was around $25, and people would buy you six packs of beer from 7-11 if you asked a few people and hung out behind the store for a few minutes.

When Ronald Reagan took to the podium in the debates the whole nation got behind him and the media was doing the same spin like they are doing for Donald Trump, except there was a huge difference. Ronald Reagan was a true master speaker, and his sense of humor was fantastic. Because of all his political back ground in California, and his acting career before that, Ronald Reagan became an unbeatable foe in the elections against Jimmy Carter.

Today we have the complete opposite of Ronald Reagan in Donald Trump, but Trump is running on many of the same issues that pulled Reagan into the White House. This time Donald Trump is not giving amazing speeches and thrilling the audience with his eloquence, he is rolling up his sleeves and saying “We are all fed up with this bullshit, and we are not going to take it anymore”.

The country was divided back then but not anything close to like it is now. We had come out of the Vietnam War and lost countless young men like my brother so we were all reeling from a tremendous blow. Today we have a phony war on terror, fake 911, war in the middle east which is part of PNAC (project for new american century), cell phone zombies, social media instead of real friends, war on the family, 20 trillion in debt, and are watching the middle class evaporate infront of our eyes.

So can Donald Trump do anything to change the rapid decline of this once great nation? News Flash – not likely. You see the real problem back then is the same problem we have today. The root of the problem is the central bank (Federal Reserve). Yes it created the greatest credit bubble in history which helped build the nation, but now the credit continues out of control and it’s not for nation building, it’s for global domination, and once this credit bubble pops, you better hope you have prepared because it will take decades to fix.
