In a Surprise, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel Announces He Will Not Seek Re-Election

Rahm is a crony of the first order and has been for a very long time. He has also been very skilled in his craft. And we can’t blame him for checking out on Chicago at this point.

Things don’t look good for Illinois or Chicago fiscally and the next recession is going to really hurt in The Windy City. Get out while the getting isn’t terrible right?

But we doubt that he’s heading out to pasture. There is likely another Washington stint. Perhaps right after another vacation down in Cuba.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel unexpectedly announced Tuesday that he will not be running for re-election.

In a last-minute press conference, the mayor revealed he would not be seeking a third term after serving since 2011.
