A Path Toward Peace

The United States foreign policy since the end of World War II has been one failure after another. We have created so much destabilization in other countries and now with the crisis in Ukraine sending troops in harm’s way is just another nail in the coffin as they say of our bungling in world affairs. NATO is outdated. If we want to preserve world peace there must be concessions that NATO must make. To alleviate international tensions that always arise from the mistrust and different ideologies ‘the US can’t assume we are always in the right nor can Russia, China or any other nation.

Since this is what Russia really wants “Russia wants a guaranteed Ukraine can never join NATO. Russia’s main demand is a commitment from NATO to end its further expansion into former Soviet republics — especially Ukraine. Russia wants NATO to rescind a 2008 promise that Ukraine could someday join the defense alliance.” The point of the matter is with the United States saber rattling has only exasperated the whole crisis. To avert further conflicts NATO must withdraw and submit to Russia’s demand. When two sides reach loggerheads as the case is now one must step aside. And in this case NATO must abide by Russia’s demands.

 In the future when both Russia and the United States broker sincere relationships both in diplomacy and trade with NATO revising their member requirements to include Russia and other countries would be a giant step toward world peace. Only in this way can the US, the rest of Europe and the world avoid the repercussions of one country uses authorisms as a way of achieving what really amounts to a few individuals’ obsessions.

We have to ask ourselves who really benefits form waging war. In every major conflict in history populations are the ones that suffer the most. Only a few reap great wealth from the devastation, famine, and horrific suffering war unleashes on humanity. When General MacArthur said.  ‘ If we do not devise some greater and more equitable system Armageddon will be at our door.” He was right all along. We must provide the means necessary to avoid what will be a colossal disaster for the whole world if we continue to pursue the course of action that has always led to violent conflicts.
