Special Representative of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov named islandization as the most likely development scenario for the country. It is about gaining technological independence and self-sufficiency.

By creating an exclusion zone, the intention is to deny the corporations of the globalist West access and partnership with Russian developments that are already in a far more advanced stage of development than their Western counterparts. As a consequence, this could result in the Western Alliance being excluded from not just Russia but the growing omnipotence of the BRICS alliance.

Dmitry Peskov, Special Representative of the President of Russia for Digital and Technological Development, Director General of ANO NTI Platform, named the ‘islandization’ scenario as the most likely model for the country’s development for the next 10-15 years in a column for RBC, by which he means the separation of large technical-economic blocs.

Peskov expects an almost guaranteed curtailment of globalism in the world and the end of the global security system of the 20th century. ‘Rebooting global technology markets, nationalizing technical standards, relocating the production of critical goods. That is, countries, all major techno-economic blocks will want to produce food, medicines and everything else on their territory. This is what is happening right now,’ he said.

Technological sovereignty will become part of the scenario of building its own island, on which each country will be the main one, able to make decisions and be responsible for them. This is the main story for the next ten years for us Dmitry Peskov believes.

In order to achieve technological sovereignty, Russia will need to respond to several challenges: work out a green agenda, create its own techno-economic block, an export package of agricultural products, and a new generation of transport logistics corridors between Russia and Asian countries, etc.

After the start of the military operation in Ukraine, a number of countries imposed sanctions against Russia. In particular, the United States announced restrictions on high-tech exports, due to which processor manufacturers stopped supplying them to Russia.

The restriction affected, among other things, the Baikal, Elbrus and other processors developed in Russia, which were produced at the Taiwanese TSMC factory using American technologies. US sanctions did not affect consumer equipment and electronics, but many foreign companies independently suspended or completely stopped the supply of their products to Russia, including Apple , Samsung , Dell, etc. EU, in turn, imposed restrictions on the supply of electronic goods for home use over €750, as well as electronic devices for recording video and sound worth more than €1,000. Several large software developers also left the Russian market, including SAP, Oracle and others.

On June 3, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed to create industrial competence centres for import substitution in key sectors of the economy. He also invited the government commission to consider proposals to replace industry and system-wide foreign solutions with Russian software products and software and hardware systems.
