Disfunction Nation

In the history of the world nations and empires have risen to great heights and even some have elevated the human experience while others have unleashed unbelievable horror upon mankind. The atrocities that have been committed by ruthless leaders have continued throughout the ages. The seemingly endless thirst for power, control and wealth still plague humanity.

When General Douglas MacArthur stated, “War the most malignant scourge of man and if we can’t find an amicable and peaceful way of solving our differences Armageddon will be right at our door” He has been right all along.  The Unted Nations, NATO and the United States should have intervened right from the beginning when Russia was mobilizing armed forces toward Ukraine. But all we did was fan the flames of armed conflict. We have to remember whenever there is armed conflict rising someone is pulling the strings. A premeditated orchestration by those in power continue to thrust the world into chaos.

The world today is faced with the ravages of man induced Global Warming which has brought many nations on the brink of violent civil unrest. The financial and economic collapse of societies has already begun. The United States is not immune to what is sweeping around the world. Our government thought it could contain the Covid-19 pandemic. We were wrong. Our government thought that by supplying Ukraine with taxpayers’ dollars and military hardware the conflict in Ukraine would cease. We were wrong. Our government thought we could bring Global Warming to a halt. We were wrong.

Our government has been corrupted for decades. Our two-party political system has commandeered the Democratic process dictating to the American public. The will of the people have been forsaken by a corrupt political process. And it has been that way for far too long. It is no wonder then that the United States has transformed from the Democratic Republic of our founding into the oligarchy ruling class we have today. With that said the great divisions in our society continue to undermine our ability to heal the gaping wounds afflicting this nation and the world.

When the political process fails the public as we are seeing in the United States there is a breakdown of civility in society. The daily horrific gun violence, the academic decline of our youth, the ethnic and racial prejudice in our nation, the widening of the greatest wealth disparity gap in history and more continue to thrust the US down into the abyss of histories fallen nations.

Do we dare step up to the plate and realize what we have allowed to happen, or do we sit ideally bye and let this nation sink into that abyss? As long as our political system remains unfazed by an apathic public we can only blame ourselves for what we have allowed to happen to our world.

Understanding what was actually done in history through the teachings of we would be better prepared to solve the many problems and crisis of today. The longer we remain silent, or our voices fall on the deaf ears of a corrupt political process the chances of healing the gapping wounds in our society remain clouded by an unsecure future.

When Abraham Lincoln stated ” A nation divided against itself cannot stand” is being fulfilled by today’s internal crisis. Once we face the facts as they present themselves and acknowledge our political process as being corrupt can our society begin to see how far we have drifted away from our founding principles of Liberty, Justice, Education, and Morality.
