Displaced foreign nationals gather with what remains of their belongings after being forced from their homes amid the recent wave of xenophobic violence in South Africa.

This was an injustice on a massive scale, and that injustice has left trails. Over 90,000 foreigners were forced to flee by xenophobia, violence, looting and murders. Zimbabwe is said to have received 60,000 returnees and Malawi 30,000.

Editor’s Note: The figures of 90,000 total departures — 60,000 to Zimbabwe and 30,000 to Malawi — are reported and currently unconfirmed by official government or UN agency data. They are presented here as reported estimates pending independent verification.

These are not just figures. The majority of these people have lost everything they worked for over many years. Much of their goods have been looted.

It is a great injustice that the people who committed these offences are not going to be arrested. They will just get away with robbery and looting.

“Divine justice is coming to South Africa. God is angry with South Africa.”

What will happen here is that South Africa will be cursed with economic destruction, misunderstandings, infighting, violence and crime. South Africa will be hated by other countries. Poverty is going to increase.

From the 90,000 that left, South African home owners have lost 90 million which they used to collect in rents. These immigrants were buying from supermarkets, so there is going to be a decline in profits. They were using taxis, so it’s going to affect the taxi business.

They were paying taxes, mostly indirect tax. They were buying airtime worthy of hundreds of thousands — it’s going to be affected.

The Reckoning

South Africa is going to be destroyed due to the tears of immigrants we have oppressed, and other factors which I don’t want to dig into. God is serious when it comes to the oppression of the poor on a massive scale.

“He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.” — Proverbs 14:31

The Solution

I do not hate South Africa, but let’s seek justice for the oppressed. Looting property that the vulnerable has worked for is wrong. Let’s fight xenophobia, hatred and violence.

Africa, we are one. Hatred of other Africans will destroy our countries and continent.

“My call to Africans: let us not attack South Africans in our countries with violence in retaliation.”

Mob violence usually destroys innocent people and leaves the culprits untouched.
