Market Jittery with Treasury Delay on Bailout

From today’s Wall Street Journal, comes news that the delay in the U.S. Treasury department’s announcement of this week’s bailout plans are roiling the markets…

Analysts say the postponement, in addition to conflicting reports about what is likely to be included in the bank rescue plan, has left markets confused and anxious about the administration’s plans to rescue banks and revive credit markets.

At the same time, the pressure for a new government response to the unprecedented challenges facing financial markets continues to build.

“We worry that investors will throw up their hands in frustration over the delays and the conflicting information,†wrote Stanford Group Financial Services analyst Jaret Seiberg in a research note Monday. “A loss of investor confidence will further exacerbate this crisis and delay recovery as the market waits to learn the rules of the roads before putting its money to work.â€
