PayPal unveiled new services
At the Money 2020 industry conference in Las Vegas, PayPal unveiled its technology to make paying in stores with a smartphone. The new service called a Payment Code.
The new technology allows customers open the PayPal app on their mobile phones to check in at stores. The PayPal app generates a QR code, or a four-digit PIN. When they are ready to pay, they can enter a PIN or bring up a QR code for the merchant to scan.
Payment Code will be launched in the first quarter of 2014. For users of the new service PayPal promises various benefits, such as automatic redemption of special offers, gift cards and rewards programs.
As well, Digital River expanded its relationship with PayPal. This company is a global provider of e-commerce, in addition it’s certified as a PayPal provider. Digital River offers its customers more than 40 international and local payment options in more than 170 currencies. Now Digital River has added PayPal Express Checkout and Bill Me Later to its existing services. PayPal Express Checkout minimizes the number of steps buyers must complete in the online checkout process. Bill Me Later is a PayPal service which enables online shoppers to buy now and pay later. Buyers can use this payment option as a reusable credit line.
