The Moment of Clarity - The Weekend Vigilante May 17, 2014

Hello from Havana, Cuba,

By the time you read this I will likely be back in Acapulco but being in a country with almost no internet access gives me a lot of time to think and write.

Not to mention all the extra time I have where I would normally be out carousing until 5am drinking Cuban rum and getting myself into all manner of interesting situations.

But since I had my moment of clarity three weeks ago today everything has changed.  And, I mean everything.  It has been an almost euphoric experience.  It also has opened up all kinds of new feelings, thoughts and opportunities that have led me through the Cayman Islands and Cuba this week.

I haven’t been filled with this much energy in years and the thoughts are overflowing.  

Here are my thoughts from today that you may find interesting.  To add to this re-awakening that I have been experiencing lately is that I have also come upon some things that I believe will be massively profitable.

HOW WE GET WHERE WE ARE

Sitting alone on a veranda overlooking Havana on a beautiful evening, clear headed, smoking a cuban cigar and without much internet access lends itself to some deep thoughts (TDV Subscribers will soon receive my thoughts on the profit potential in Cuba).

How did I, at 43, born in Kanada, end up with a family in Mexico and living a lifestyle where I am travelling the world and involved with some of the most interesting and accomplished people on Earth with access to so many incredible opportunities?

I’ll get to the amazing opportunity I discovered in the Cayman Islands a bit further along.

But as I thought back upon my life it seemed to me that every thing I have done, every decision I have made has led to where I am today.  Even the things that I wish I could go back and change like selling my internet company before the tech bubble burst in 2000 or drinking too much during periods of my life all have become the tapestry on which my life currently stands and even the things that I look back upon and wish I had changed probably were things I had to go through in order to reach where I am today.

From time to time I get people who say to me things along the lines of, “You are so lucky you always seem to be in the right place at the right time.”   I beg to differ.  While some things are or appear to be pure chance most of the opportunities I come across are the result of countless decisions and work I have done throughout my life that have put me in a position to be ready when the opportunities come.  And this is something in particular that people should pay attention to as I see many people who feel they don’t have any opportunities in life.  There are unlimited opportunities but you have to put yourself in a position to be able to take advantage of them when they come.

MY JOURNEY

As I leaned back and watched my cigar smoke rise into the sky with the full moon shining through the plume I thought about all the things I had done that led me to where I currently am.

It likely began when I, for whatever reason, saw public skools as the child indoctrination prison system that it is.  I remember talking to my mom when I was 11 and telling her that going there was a complete waste of my time and I had no interest in 90% of what they were forcing me to memorize.  And, on the 10% that I was interested in, I could learn it much faster on my own than sitting in a chair in a non-descript room as a person on welfare (public teacher) scribbled on 16th century technology called a blackboard with chalk amongst a number of other inmates.

The personal computer had just come out and I was enthralled with it.  Much of the next decade would be spent exploring this exciting new world.  Including a stint as the #2 white rapper in Kanada in the late 80s which I did almost soley because I figured it would be the best way to get over my extreme shyness.

By 1991 having quit rap because I wasn’t good enough I had also become a bit bored of the computer world as I was frustrated that there still existed no way to connect all computers worldwide.  Using a 28.8 baud modem (about 30 times slower than the slowest high speed internet of today) to dial up a Bulletin Board System at someone’s house to transfer information had become tedious and tiresome.  Especially when many sites you’d dial up would result in a busy signal!

I had become interested in the stock market at this time and began working towards becoming a stock broker when the internet finally was developed and I heard about it in 1993.

When the internet hit I already had enough experience in the stock market to know that there was a major need for a financial website in Kanada.  You couldn’t even get stock quotes on the internet in Kanada at the time.  I began building the site while still working at a bank but then made one of the best decisions I have made in my life.  In fact, when I quit the bank in 1994 that was the last time I ever worked as an employee.  And, while there have been countless ups and downs my life and lifestyle were dramatically better than if I had stayed on as an employee in a Kanadian bank.  I know this because I still interact with many of my past co-workers who look beat down and dishevelled after decades working in a monopolistic bureaucracy.

Interestingly, twenty years ago they all said I was crazy to leave my “secure” job to start up an internet company.  Now, when I see them, they tell me they wish they had done similar.

I ended up missing the top of the tech bubble and sold the company in 2003.  Confused as to what caused the tech bubble and wanting to have a better understanding of how economics, the money system and how the world works I decided to sail around the world and get an education via the internet at the same time.  For the next six years I travelled the world visiting nearly 100 countries while reading anything I could get my hands on regarding Austrian economics and libertarianism.

That journey ended up forming the basis for The Dollar Vigilante (TDV).  For the first year it felt very much like I was writing to myself as hardly anyone was aware of my writings (take note of this those who give up after a few months).  But by 2011 it began getting some traction and then the flood gates began to open in 2012.  TDV started gaining a large following and subscriber base and due to demand I began to build off related side-businesses to provide products and services to people who understood the topics we were talking about.

All along the way I had been building up a tremendous list of contacts and friends who bring a lot into my life both personally and in business.  Of course, that wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t adhere to the most important rule in business and in life, “Do what you say you are going to do”.  It’s amazing how many people don’t realize that is key to almost everything.

So, here I sit in Havana tonight after just having attended the most exciting investment meeting I can remember since the early internet days.

THE FIVE B’S TO SURVIVING & PROSPERING DURING TEOTMSAWKI

I have spoken quite a bit in the past that I thought bullion, bitcoin and bullets were the best way to profitably get through the US dollar collapse. 

I am going to keep the 5th B a secret for the moment but I am adding “bud” to the list of B’s.  By “bud” I mean marijuana/cannabis.

I had the extreme pleasure to be invited to the Cayman Islands this week to sit in on a meeting of some of the best minds and entrepreneurs in the booming “medical marijuana” space.

To whet your appetite I compare the legalized cannabis industry today to being in the land of the “free” at the end of alcohol prohibition in 1933.  Countless fortunes were made at that time and I think the same potential exists today… of course, most cannabis producers will fail but the few who succeed will be multi-billion dollar companies.  And I have found the company that will easily be the largest producer in North America and possibly the world in the next 1-2 years… and very few even know about it and even fewer have access to invest in it at this time.

Through my connections I have negotiated for myself and my subscribers to get access to it now, privately, before it goes public at what I expect will be at least 500-1,000% higher.

TDV and myself have had a pretty good track record of being ahead of the curve having caught on to the internet before most had even heard of it, having been a public proponent of gold and silver since 2002 at much lower levels, identifying bitcoin as a world-changer in 2011 at $7 (currently $450) and we’ve even been promoting to subscribers to get into the legalized marijuana business for more than a year before many publicly traded marijuana stocks went up 1000%+.

I’ve met many of our subscribers who have made fortunes (many from bitcoin) from our work.  And, I think we are about to do it again with the marijuana industry.  I’ll explain further why I am so excited about the sector on Monday in the TDV blog and will reveal then to subscribers how they can get access to the best opportunity in the sector.

THE MOMENT OF CLARITY 

And so, here I sit possibly on the cusp of another major wealth making opportunity, sitting with my trusty laptop in Havana.  How did I get here?  

As I stated above it resulted from a long list of decisions and actions over the course of my lifetime.

And while I often state that TEOTMSAWKI will be the most dangerous time in human history for capital it also, if you follow the 5 B’s, could turn out to be the most lucrative.  It is times like these when fortunes are made… and lost.  The good news is if you are reading this you probably already know more than 99% of the others who will get hurt significantly in the collapse.

It is for this reason that three weeks ago I decided to remove alcohol from my life.  It is a dangerous yet amazing time to be alive at the edges of a massive, global paradigm shift and I want to be as focused as possible on creating and protecting wealth and self for myself and for our subscribers.

And I’ve never felt better nor more prepared for the coming upheaval than I do today.

HACKAPULCO, BITCOIN, FREEDOMFEST AND “FREEDOM FROM CHOICE”

I seem to be becoming in high demand as a speaker nowadays and have been turning down more conference invitations than I have been accepting.

However I have recently accepted at the following conferences for these reasons:

Hackapulco – Acapulco – May 30-31.  How could I turn down an invitation to speak at a hacking conference in my “home” town.  It’s an all-Spanish speaking conference of some of the best IT security and hacking minds in Mexico.  I’ll be telling them how important it is that they understand bitcoin and the blockchain.

Bitcoin in the Beltway – Washington DC – June 20-22.  While it gives me the creeps to be so close to Mordor I am just too excited about bitcoin to not go and be around some of the brightest minds and entrepreneurs in the space… and some of the best investment opportunities out there.

Freedomfest – Las Vegas – July 9-12.  I initially wasn’t going to go to FreedomFest as I wanted to stay out of the US as much as possible.  But then after accepting a conference in the District of Criminals I thought I should not listen to all my Mexican friends who tell me not to go to the US because it is too dangerous.  And, Freedomfest is probably the largest conference on freedom in the world and so I decided I couldn’t pass it up.  Also, at Freedomfest, they will be screening the first public airing of “Freedom From Choice” a film on the state of the US tyranny today with appearances by Peter Schiff, G. Edward Griffin, myself and many more.
