The Alternate Reality...Blind Lead The Blind!

The “Alternate Reality’.

In a world of negative interst rates and almost zero interest rates here in the U.S. I was astonished to recieve a notification from Macy’s that they were RAISING my interest rate by 1%!

I certainly am left scratching my head. I have been a customer for over 25 years, from when it was May D&F, then Foley’s and now Macy’s and have always maintained my account in good standing.

I have not taken out any new credit cards or made any major purchase. No change in my credit rating .

So what do they know that the rest of us don’t?Most of us are in the dark about the effects of negative interest rates, but to raise them? 

Something much more serious must be going on. Sales are down and they, like so many others, need cash to pay for merchandise…merchandise that continues to sit in stores unsold.

One way to raise cash is to charge account holders that have unpaid balances more interest. On the surface it may appear to make sense.

In the real world, when account holders are to be charged a higher rate of interest, consumers will cut back even more and pay off those balances! There is also a very high probability that they will not return.

What is the back up plan then?

I do not understand why they want to destroy their own customer base, especially “LOYAL” customers!
