I think the Fed is just repurchasing the debt that matured past their targeted tightening point. They constantly roll over debt because the securities mature and will decrease their balance sheet naturally on their own. So if the Fed were to not buy or sell anything at all, the balance sheet would decrease by itself after the debt was paid off. This is why you see some slight fluctuations in the balance sheet as they are buying more securities to offset the ones that matured so they can maintain their targeted level of assets on their balance sheet.

You say the same thing each and every day. The Fed has always done a poor job, Greg. They caused almost every recession, translating into every bear market since the 1960s. They’ve done that by over-tightening practically every time except 1994-1995, the only soft landing. This was the most effortless market cycle top I’ve seen since investing and has been used for forty years. You say you want to reset and learn from missing the market top, then start looking at different things and the market in different ways.
