Trading noise, the random movement of price over the short term, does not control trends, cycles, and profits. The confidence is the key to future direction. Confidence can’t be controlled by the Fed or public policy.

It doesn’t matter if the CPI doesn’t reflect reality, at least for now. The CPI was reported below expectations, and the majority believes it matters. They also believe that gold tracks inflation, the economy, something controlled by the Fed and/or President, is strong. Laugh, see through the perception game, and track the Evolution of the Trade (EOT). The EOT follows the invisible hand. We follow it to survive and thrive.

Gold continues to track lower not because the CPI is weakening but rather it’s not ready yet. It’s still working against a long-term cycle, while confidence hangs on by a few remaining threads.  While this statement irritates the true believers (gold bugs) over the short-term, it allows us (the minority) to survive.

As we explained in the latest Gold & Silver Report 06/01/24 Report — Undeniable Distribution, the EOT would not allow a short position against a primary uptrend. The inability to scalp (trading against the trend) didn’t mean we didn’t take profits once the composite trend entered consolidation under heavily distribution. This was clearly stated on 06/01/24. The report update also discussed the geometric coil shown below in the Gold Daily Chart.

Professional traders and investors know when to fold’em as well as hold’em with equal skill. The invisible hand has been giving the leveraged longs the middle finger for 11 days and counting. Account balance pain has been relatively light, at least so far, but it could get a lot worse. The gorilla knows the geometric will extract even more pain.
