The US Faces 2 MAJOR Threats That Could Collapse The Dollar | Gold & Silver | Oliver Macleod
Silver closed under fifty dollars and the silver price is now down almost sixty per cent from its high – so why are these two analysts more interested in the currency than the metal? Michael Oliver of Momentum Structural Analysis reads structure rather than price, and his case is that nine months of grinding sideways in silver is a shakeout, not a top. He walks through the fall from a hundred and twenty dollars to the mid fifties, why he thinks the summer low is the one that matters, why the mining shares never confirmed the break, and what his firm’s own buy signals were on the way down. Alasdair Macleod comes at the same market from the currency side: in his reading gold and silver are not rising or falling at all, the purchasing power of the currencies is what is moving, and China’s central bank is not accumulating gold so much as getting out of dollars. Between them they cover the deficit and the money printing both expect next, the euro, the squeeze that took silver from fifty dollars to a hundred and twenty, China’s reversal in the silver trade, the big banks, the leverage sitting behind the equity market, and what each of them thinks happens when the headlines finally catch up. Our own evaluation at the end checks their claims against the data, including the ones that do not hold up.
