The Way to Happiness Spreads Calm and Peace

Nashville’s chapter of The Way to Happiness is continuing to educate students into the summer by handing out copies of the common sense guide to better living.

“True joy and happiness are valuable,” is how the book The Way to Happiness opens, “If one does not survive, no joy and no happiness are obtainable. Trying to survive in a chaotic, dishonest and generally immoral society is difficult.”

The Way to Happiness was written in the early 1980s by humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard, after seeing the society’s moral values on a decline. The book offers twenty-one precepts to better survival, some as simple as Take Care of Yourself and Love and Help Children. It is because of the universality of the book and its ease of reading that it has been made available for broad distribution in neighborhoods and communities the world over.

Recently, the book was distributed at a community event in Edgehill, a suburb of Nashville. The event was a celebration of the beginning of summer and end of the school year. Many organizations participated in the event by bringing information and goodies to hand out at Easley Community Center. Young people played basketball and ran amongst tables to receive information. Youth and adults alike picked up a copy of the Way to Happiness booklet, with many grabbing additional copies for friends and neighbors. 

Chris Hays organizes the local chapter of The Way to Happiness, “It is always such a joy to see people reading this book. People change just flipping through the book and reading certain concepts, because it gives them a new view in life.”
