Strong Potential Of Fraud Collection Of School Loans

This is my personal experience.  You will have to decide for yourself.

I finished my masters degree in 1997.  I became very ill. I was ill for several years.  

I filled out the forms for School Loan Debt Forgiveness.  Of course, I kept all of my IRS Returns as well as the official School Loan Debt Forgiveness letter.  At that time, it was only around $50,000.  The Loan Forgiveness was granted. There is seven year period we all keep the IRS Returns, At that time, I threw those away as well as the legal paperwork for the Federal Loan forgiveness.

Two months ago, I began getting phone calls to pay back over $200,000.  I explained that my debt had been forgiven years ago.  I told them to review my history.They asked for my bank account number; and  I was very foolish giving it to them..  ”This time” they only took out $5.00.  I realized what I had done.  There was “no paperwork” to fill out. The next month, they could have taken out any amount they wanted.  Of course, I went to the bank to close that account and open another.

IF this had been a “real collection”, they would have sent legal paperwork to fill out..

They continued to call until I told them I had contacted the Department of Education and Student Loans.  

The calls immediately stopped..
