The speaker at this webinar offers a 10-point action plan for business owners and managers with an older workforce. He will address the changing roles and responsibilities of boomers at work and at home, with an emphasis on accommodation and support.

At the core of this session is the practical application of accommodation and support so that employees remain productive at work as they take on more caregiving responsibilities at home. Specifically, the role employers play in helping employees care for aging parents, spouses and disabled children is taken up for detailed discussion.

It is all too common to come across employees who feel the need to choose between those they love and their career. As a result, businesses face increased absenteeism or lose highly knowledgeable and skilled contributors, without realizing that being uncompromising works against their own interests. Finding, hiring and training replacements for people with these issues can be a time consuming and needlessly expensive option, when all that is needed is simple accommodation and support, and a little openness and flexibility.

Often, employers don’t realize that enabling employees the leverage and tools needed to manage the stress of caregiving is the simplest and most human solution to what is becoming an increasingly common problem.

Ben Neiburger is an Illinois-based Elder Law attorney and Certified Public Accountant. As a speaker Ben travels the country showing organizations how to respond to the coming elder care crisis in America with humanity, while maintaining productivity and profitability. Ben speaks to legal, healthcare and financial planning professionals about managing our country’s growing elder population and the effect this will have on the bottom line performance of every company.

Ben is an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and a member of the board of directors for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
