ITT Tech Crumbles, Students Hit Hard

ITT Tech WAS a nationaly accredited, for-profit college, which is now out of business. The 8,000 employees now out of a job, served approximately 40,000 students, now out of a degree.

The college decided to shut the doors to all 140 of its campuses across the country, right as the 2016 fall semester was about to start. This left students with little or no other college options to choose from at the last minute.

The school now officialy closed has left students, but also tax holders, ”left holding the bag.” Many of the currently enrolled students are stuck with a heavy burden of student loans, yet no degree to help pay them off. Students have even started a nationwide boycott, refusing to pay back their school debts. 

Most of the college credits earned at ITT Tech will not be transferrable to any other schools. Some students even say that ITT Tech has ruined their life. Refer to the video below.

The death of ITT Tech is not the first college to crumble in the current economic collapse of 2016. This comes after other recent college shutdowns. Corinthian Colleges shut their doors for good last year in 2015.

The failure of the 91 Corinthian College campuses, left 16,000 students without a college degree, buried alive in their student loan debt. Corinthian is being sued for billions, with similar lawsuits guaranteed to hit ITT Tech in the near future.

The reason stated by ITT Tech is that suddenly the federal government decided to cut all of the financial aid to students attending their college. This is clear evidence that the federal government is struggling to keep up with their many financial obligations.

Another university in the countryside of Virginia, Sweet Briar College, nearly passed away last year due to financial reasons; however with a spur of alumni donations, they say they will be able to make it through the 2016-2017 school year.

As the USA economy dives deeper into collapse, cracks in the veneer of ‘the greatest country on Earth” are beginning to show from every possible angle. The collapse of ITT Tech is a very large and forebearing clue into the future. Expect events like this to occur more frequently and with greater impact.

Nerds everywhere are now scrambling for a job, with no college degree and huge debts they have to pay, for something that gained them very close to nothing. Their attendance at ITT Tech was a severe misallocation of time and resources for anyone who attended the institution.
