Culver acknowledges failure of I-JOBS program in jobs events 6 weeks ahead of election
Branstad campaign says it’s unfortunate Culver waited until 6 weeks before an election to start talking to Iowans about job creation
(URBANDALE) – Governor Branstad 2010 campaign manager today released the following statement in response to Gov. Chet Culver’s press events today:
“It’s unfortunate that it’s taken until 6 weeks before an election for Governor Culver to get serious about job creation in Iowa. His proposal today is in many ways a tacit admission that his I-JOBS program is a complete failure.
“Gov. Branstad made economic development and job creation a priority throughout his 16 years as Iowa’s governor, and as a result, nearly 300,000 new jobs were created and Iowa’s unemployment rate was reduced to an historic low. In addition, Gov. Branstad made job creation his number one priority when announcing his candidacy, and has offered numerous policy initiatives to meet his ambitious goal of creating 200,000 new jobs.
“It should come as no surprise that Governor Culver has waited until six weeks before an election to start talking to Iowans about job creation, because his administration has a history of always putting politics ahead of sound policy.”
