#10. John Opposes Wasteful “Stimulus” Spending.
 
We were told the $787 billion stimulus bill would jump-start our
economy, create new jobs, and trigger our recovery.  Many Americans
doubted this approach, yet President Obama and Senator Lincoln promised
it would work. They said it was the only way.  They said it was
battle-tested, and they scoffed at conservatives who said otherwise.
 
Nearly two years later, after spending more money than the ENTIRE War in
Iraq, we can assess the effectiveness of this budget-busting,
record-setting, bankruptcy-inducing piece of legislation. 
 
The result?
$1.4 trillion budget deficit for 2009
$1.29 trillion budget deficit for 2010
$1.4 trillion budget deficit for 2011
Record-setting 9.6% national unemployment rate
 
Unfortunately, the only thing we’ve stimulated is the federal
bureaucracy.  We’ve bailed out irresponsible state governments, offered
kick-backs to well-connected insiders, funded countless political pet
projects, and fulfilled almost every liberal’s legislative wish list.
 
John Boozman voted against the stimulus bill.  He challenged the
President’s promises, criticized the wasteful projects, and questioned
the fundamental “tax, borrow, spend” philosophy that inspired the
administration to pass this calamity.
 
John Boozman understands that private citizens, entrepreneurs,
investors, and small businessmen create new jobs—not the federal
government.  He recognizes that endless deficits and national debt
threaten our children and grandchildren’s future. He realizes that if
you reward irresponsible state government behavior with bailout after
bailout, you eliminate any incentive for change.  And he understands
that limited government, tax relief, and less bureaucracy hold the key
to our recovery.
 
If elected to the Senate, John Boozman will continue his fight to stop
the reckless spending, get our fiscal house in order, and put America
