Boehner tells Ohio rally jobs top issue: “Speaking in his southwest Ohio home district hours after a bleak federal report on employment was released, Boehner said that it looked a lot like the reports every month under President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus plan. … ‘This coming election is about one issue: jobs,’ he said. ‘It’s about jobs that were promised to the American people by the current administration, and were never delivered.’” (Associated Press, 10/8/10)

John Boehner says “American Dream” in jeopardy: “The ‘American Dream’ is under siege by an out-of-control U.S. government that doesn’t listen to its people, House of Representatives Republican leader John Boehner said on Friday. In a campaign speech in his home state of Ohio in which he blasted Democrats’ economic policies, Boehner said: ‘We have to decide: Do we want another two years of job-killing policies out of Washington? Boehner: Government ‘disrespecting’ people: “[Boehner] told them to replace the Democrats he says have failed the nation when it comes to jobs. ‘Your government is disrespecting you, your family, your job, your children,’ Boehner told a crowd of about 300 workers gathered in a building at United Group Services, a piping manufacturer in West Chester, only a few miles from the congressman’s home. ‘Your government is out of control,’ Boehner shouted to the audience. The crowd roared. ‘Do you have to accept it?,’ shouted Boehner, in a high-decibel tone of voice that was nothing like the cool, low-keyed GOP spokesman Americans are used to seeing on the Sunday morning talk shows. ‘Hell, no you don’t!’” (Cincinnati Enquirer, 10/8/10)

Boehner’s Closing Argument on Jobs: “Do You Have to Take it? Hell No You Don’t!”: “‘Unemployment is high.  Millions are out of work.  Private-sector job creation is flat. That’s what you got for your $787 billion dollars: Record high unemployment, a bigger government, and an economy struggling to create jobs,’ Boehner said. ‘This is not what America asked for when they sent then Sen. Barack Obama to the Oval Office. The pink slips shouldn’t be going to workers here in Ohio.  They should be going to the members of Barack Obama’s economic team.’” (ABC News, 10/8/10)

Boehner Asks Voters to Throw Out Democrats: “Boehner, wearing a checked shirt and no tie on his home turf, told a friendly crowd gathered inside the Cincinnati headquarters of United Group Services the Republican ‘Pledge to America’ would help turn around the ailing economy by implementing policies that would create jobs. He then called on Pelosi to bring the House back in session to hold votes the GOP initiatives. ‘Americans have been crystal clear about what they want: more jobs, less spending and a more open Congress that respects and abides by the Constitution,’ he said. ‘If those things are going to happen, then we need a new majority in Congress that will stand up to President Barack Obama and insist that he start listening to the people.’” (Roll Call, 10/8/10)

Boehner attacks Obama, Dems over economy: “‘The government our children deserve is within our grasp. It starts next month – and it starts with throwing out the politicians who aren’t listening and giving a chance to a new Congress that will.’ Mr. Boehner also touted House Republicans’ recent ‘Pledge to America,’ an action plan that would cancel unspent stimulus funds, repeal the administration’s health care law and cut lawmakers’ budgets, among other things, to help rein in spending. ” (Washington Times, 10/8/10)

Boehner: Vote a referendum on Obama: “Boehner emphasized the need to change both operations and results in Congress, as House Republicans vowed in their ‘Pledge to America’ two weeks ago. ‘The very structure of Congress right now is rigged in favor of spending. If we’re going to confront the massive challenges that lie ahead for our country, the American people understand this has to change. The bottom line is this: to help our economy create jobs, we have to stop all of the coming tax hikes and cut spending — and to cut spending, we need to change Congress itself.’” (Politico, 10/8/10)

Boehner: Voters need a new GOP majority in Congress: “‘At the healthcare summit last February, President Obama told us it’s OK to have deep philosophical differences and different visions for where we’d lead our country. ‘That’s what elections are for,’ he said,’ Boehner will say. ‘Ladies and gentlemen, your government hasn’t been listening. Your government is disrespecting you, your family, your job, your children. Your government is out of control,’ he will add. ‘Do you have to accept it? Do you have to take it? Of course you don’t.
