KTHV Profiles John Boozman
For 11 years, Senator Blanche Lincoln has held the seat of U.S. Senator. Now, she’s facing some tough competition in Congressman John Boozman.
This isn’t his first time at bat, but it is his first time trying to unseat Blanche Lincoln for U.S. Senate.
Congressman Boozman says, “I’m going to Washington to start something.” As Congressman for District Three, John Boozman says he worked hard for Arkansans and will continue to do so, as Senator. He explains, “The average Arkansan is very concerned about having a job 3-4 months now. The other thing that is important is the deficit; the spending in Washington.” That spending includes a $787 billion stimulus, that Boozman says has done little to boost the economy; and then there’s health care. Boozman says, “Senator Lincoln was the deciding vote for it, I want to be the deciding vote to repeal it.”
If elected, Boozman says he will vote to extend the Bush tax cuts and approve a balanced budget ammendment and line-item veto. But he admits Republicans can’t do it alone. “We’ve got some real problems that we’ve got to address. It’s going to take Democrats and Republicans,Independents working together to solve those problems;” says Boozman.
