Crist Will Early Vote With The Teamsters But Hasn’t Said How He Will Vote On Their Issues

Miami, FL – This morning, Charlie Crist is scheduled to take a bus ride “with his Teamsters supporters” to go vote early. While Crist has met privately with Teamster leaders in Washington, he has so far dodged public questions about where he stands on issues that are seen as priorities for union members. Why is Crist ducking? Has he changed positions on any issues to satisfy “his Teamsters supporters”?

Charlie Crist will do anything to win an election and in some cases, that means saying nothing at all about issues where answers might satisfy union officials in Washington but upset voters back home. Please see below two critical issues that the Teamsters and Charlie Crist might want to discuss with the media on their bus ride this morning:

• Stripping Workers Of Their Right To A Secret Ballot: In May 2010, Crist “didn’t give a hard answer” on how he would vote on “card check” – the elimination of secret ballot union elections –  but did say “he’d meet with union officials to learn more.” Since then, has Crist determined how he would vote? Has he told the Teamsters how he would vote?

• Trade With Colombia: In December 2008, Crist wrote President-elect Barack Obama urging him to pass the Colombia Free-Trade Agreement. However, the Teamsters oppose the Colombia Free-Trade Agreement. Have Crist and “his Teamsters supporters” discussed their differences or has Crist flip-flopped on the issue?
