Open House Smashing Success

We began the New Year with an open house on this past Sunday.  My campaign treasurer Randy McArthur had suggested that we have an event where we could all get together and just hang out.  Many of the volunteers that I stay in contact with heartily agreed and began preparing, inviting and communicating the event to our supporters and our friends.

Ah, these friends, these supporters!  I have to say that one of the remarkable aspects of our run for the Missouri 3rd district seat is the energy and passion of our volunteer force.  These are the nicest folks you would ever want to meet.  At our campaign headquarters (aka the Freedom Annex), where the volunteers would gather to do the heavy lifting of the campaign, the men and women became good friends and formed great bonds of community.

For our Sunday open house, I thought that as many as 100 might gather to say hello to one another.  I was really looking forward to it.  Over 400 showed up, bearing with them good wishes and cheer.

This is an amazing thing.  While I am proud of the campaign we ran and the achievements with the downticket candidates, to have this sort of outpouring of good will given the outcome of the election is unprecedented.  The hall was packed with people.  Former Governor Matt Blunt stopped by, along with Bill Hennessy from the St. Louis Tea Party and Jim Hoft, the Gateway Pundit.  It was great to see everyone, reacquaint ourselves with one another’s lives and talk about the future.

Voter Integrity Project

One of several projects I would like to tackle is doing what we can to protect and promote the integrity of our elections.  I have said and still believe that our opponent won the election fair and square.  Despite this, there are many people who understandably question the irregularities that have not been dealt with.  I also suspect that the conditions for voter fraud exist, and want to work to head off any future problems by investigating and bringing to light issues relating to voter registration or irregularities with voting among jurisdictions.

I have asked Frieda Keough, an indispensible campaign volunteer, to help me organize an effort to review election records and identify those areas in need of attention from election officials.  We are working with the St. Louis Tea Party as well.  I hope you will consider joining the discussion on our Facebook page and consider  how you might help out if you are passionate about this issue.

Obamacare Hearings

Obamacare is a shining example of almost everything that is wrong with Washington DC and the heavy-handed, clumsy governance we have been groaning under for years.  Nancy Pelosi famously told us that Congress needed to pass the bill so that they could find out what was in it.  As we are finding out what is in it, we are getting more and more worried.  I believe that we need to spend time and energy studying Obamacare and talking about it in very public ways.

To help accomplish this, I have organized a public event – one of many I hope to have across the state – and invited experts on how Obamacare will affect our health deliver system.  Speakers include:

Missouri Republican Party Celebrates the Conservative Progress at Lincoln Days

On February 25-27, the Missouri GOP is holding its annual Lincoln Days Event in Springfield, Missouri.  This will be the first statewide gathering of Republicans since the November successes of conservative voters and candidates.  I am joining friends, supporters and fellow conservatives at this gathering, and I am encouraging like-minded patriots all over Missouri to plan on attending.  Meet our legislative leaders, activists, and Republican leaders and let them know that we will support them AND remind them that we are paying careful attention!  Keep an eye on these emails as we develop details on creating a rolling caravan to Springfield MO.  An ocean of patriots flooding Lincoln Days will keep things moving in the right direction in Jefferson City and in Washington, DC!
