On The Two Year Anniversary Of ObamaCare, NRSC Fact Checks Brown & Obama’s Job-Killing Healthcare Law

NRSC Launches New Web Video

Two years ago today – with the help of liberal U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown who was a fierce supporter of Barack Obama’s job-killing healthcare bill – President Barack Obama signed his $1.76 trillion job-killing healthcare bill into law.  The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has released a web video reminding Ohioans of the broken promises from ObamaCare.

Senator Brown promised the healthcare bill would reduce healthcare costs for millions of people, but since this legislation has been signed into law, costs have risen by 9 percent and the average premium has risen by $1,300. 

Meanwhile, Brown and his fellow Democrats claimed the healthcare bill would cost $940 billion, but recently the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office released a report that found ObamaCare would actually cost $1.76 trillion.

Notably, this bill is also killing thousands of jobs in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and across the state of Ohio.

“Liberal U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown promised Barack Obama’s healthcare bill would lower the cost of healthcare, but today Ohioans are paying more for healthcare than ever before,”  said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.  “Between the job-killing taxes, the intrusive federal mandates and the raiding of Medicare funds, it’s clear Sherrod Brown misled Ohioans about the true effects of his government-run healthcare plan.”

In Lorain County Ohio, The Threat Of Obama’s Medical Device Tax Is Causing One Of Their Largest Businesses To Stop Hiring. “[I]n the short run, some of his policies could cost existing jobs, especially health-care reform, if it is enacted. One of the few large businesses that has prospered in Lorain County in recent years has been Invacare, a maker of home medical devices, such as walkers and wheelchairs… The company has 1,300 employees in Lorain County but has stopped hiring in anticipation of a tax on medical devices that was proposed to help pay for the president’s health-care reform plan.” (Michael A. Columbus, OH-Based American Electric Power Took A $21 Million Charge From ObamaCare. “American Electric Power said Thursday its first-quarter profit dropped 4 percent as the lingering effects of the recession continue to hurt power demand. … AEP recorded a $21 million charge because of the recently enacted federal health care overhaul. AEP and other companies currently receive a government subsidy to keep prescription drug benefits for retirees. Ohio Industrial Manufacturer Eaton Will Take A $25 Million Charge Due To ObamaCare. “Industrial company Eaton said Thursday it plans to take a $25 million charge during the first quarter due to the recently-passed health-care legislation. Eaton joined a growing list of companies detailing the financial impact of the health-care bill, which was signed into law by President Barack Obama last week.
