Wisconsin Recall: Labor Pick Kathleen Falk Desperate And Floundering?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The Unions had a grand plan for the better part of a year. That plan was to recall Governor Scott Walker and install someone who was 100% behind their wishes. That person was Kathleen Falk. Yet the whole plan is now unravelling. Tom Barrett-the candidate who lost to Walker in the last election is running. Depending on whose polls you believe he is 7% to 17% ahead of Falk in the Democrat primary to take on Walker. The Unions have recently spent over $3 million on ads for Falk with no movement in her direction in the polls. Many Democrat Party members are abandoning Falks’ candidacy.

Falks’ only chance at this point is to attack Barrett. The hands off kid gloves approach in the Democrat primary is a sure winner for Barrett as he already has name recongition. Falk started the real election process yesterday when she said that Barrett actually asked Governor Scott Walker to expand the bargaining limits to police and fire unions – who remain exempt from the law. Falk also said Barrett was reluctant to sign a Walker recall petition – even he though he ended up doing it.

This is very significant -it shows that Falk is willing to fight for the nomination and that she is in trouble. Last week her campaign went off the airwaves for a couple of days as she tried to figure out a new strategy. I think that Falks campaign has found the only strategy available-attack Barrett.

If Falk does not quickly and  skillfully attack Barrett now it’s all over for her candidacy as Democrat party members are starting to break for him and that means that the Unions will once again have wasted millions of dollars of their workers money (dues).

It will be real interesting to see if the Unions stick with her and she fights or they all just cave. If she looses the Unions just lost millions for nothing! Try tellin’ that to a hard working Union Man or Woman!

OMG that picture is priceless!!!! I saw another one that said, WALKER FIXED IT< DON”T FALK IT UP< WE COULDN”T BARRETT!

      Falk is in BIIIIIG Trouble:

Barrett, who has clashed with unions during his eight years as Milwaukee mayor, refused to make the same promise. But he is much better known across the state as the result of his 2010 campaign and is considered more acceptable to moderate Democrats.

The unions now face a predicament as Barrett appears to be leading the field

Wisconsin saw the largest percentage decrease in employment in the nation during the 12 months ending in March, a new report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said.

During that time period, while 27 states and the District of Columbia saw significant job increases, only Wisconsin saw “statistically significant” job losses, the report said.

From March 2011 to March 2012, the state lost 23,900 jobs, for the country’s largest percentage decrease, at 0.9 percent.

Of the 23,900 jobs lost in Wisconsin in that period, 17,900 were from the public sector and 6,000 were from the private sector, according to the BLS.

Wisconsin also had the third-worst employment losses for March compared to the previous month, with 4,500 fewer jobs than it had in February, the report said. Only Ohio and New Jersey were worse, with 9,500 and 8,600 fewer jobs, respectively.

      Lets the facts speak:

Milwaukee in tiny Hartland, Wis., had a problem in its collective bargaining contract with the local teachers union.
The contract required the school district to purchase health insurance from a company called WEA Trust. The creation of Wisconsin’s largest teachers union — “WEA” stands for Wisconsin Education Association — WEA Trust made money when union officials used collective bargaining agreements to steer profitable business its way.

And it just happens that the Hartland-Lakeside teachers’ collective bargaining agreement expired on June 30. So now, freed from the expensive WEA Trust deal, the school district has changed insurers.

“It’s going to save us about $690,000 in 2011-2012,” says Schilling. Insurance costs that had been about $2.5 million a year will now be around $1.8 million. What union leaders said would be a catastrophe will in fact be a boon to teachers and students.

Actually, despite the losses, Wisconsin’s unemployment rate is the lowest since 2008, and property taxes went down. This is local news, not FOX or anything else. So you see, things ARE working, it just takes a little time. Considering the mess WI was in, this is quite an improvement in such a short amount of time. Union leadership is terrified of losing its cash flow, period. They DO NOT care about the members, contrary to what people think. Wake up people.

I’ve heard it said, “Unions have no friends.” I believe it. I grew up with the teachers union as a student in the Public School System. The whole perspective is as viable as the old Soviet Union. It is being maintained by a bunch of washed up baby boomer loosers and so and sos. I’m a baby boomer. Give them their walking papers. Home schooling is way better.

Many have died for the rights you have today.

Weekends off, vacation, medical, 8 hour work day, minimum pay, etc.

Unions are all that is left between Corp greed and an individuals rights.

    • Resonista

That is so not true. The unions are the epitome of greed. Lets put it this way, lets say you are a Democrat, you are a union member, how would you feel to know that the majority of what you pay into the union goes towards lobbying Republicans, or into campaign funds to support Republicans? That is the REAL story. Don’t be blinded by the “workers rights” etc. That is what it USED to be about. It isn’t anymore. Educate yourself.
