Sherrod Brown Reiterates Defense of President Obama’s Effort To Raise Taxes On Ohio Small Business Owners

As Democrats Run For The Hills, Sherrod Brown Doubles-Down On Obama’s Tax Hikes

As Ohioans continue to feel the wrath of the failed tax-and-spend policies of liberal Democrat Sherrod Brown and President Barack Obama, yesterday Brown became one of the rare Democrats who has come out in support of the President’s effort to raise taxes on small businesses in Ohio.

While some individuals in his party – including liberal New York Democrat Chuck Schumer – have called the President’s initiative harmful to the middle class and small businesses, Brown has openly chastised them for not supporting his proposal.

As liberal Washington Post blogger Greg Sargent reports:

Sherrod Brown, who is in a competitive race in Ohio, flatly stated that the President’s proposal is right on the substance and on the politics.  “This is simply restoring the tax levels from years ago on two percent of taxpayers,” Brown told me. “I don’t know why some Democrats are queasy. Possibly they think it’s better messaging if the cutoff is $1 million. …  “But I think the president is right here,” Brown continued. “The American public thinks that if you make a quarter million dollars, you’re doing really well. There’s no reason we shouldn’t be shouting this from the rooftops.”

Notably, ABC News recently reported this devastating tax increase will hit 894,000 small business.

“When it comes to supporting President Obama’s tax-and-spend agenda, Sherrod Brown jumps as high as Mr. Obama tells him, which explains why Brown supports raising taxes on small business owners in Ohio,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.  “With the national unemployment rate above 8 percent for 41 straight months, it’s truly remarkable that Brown believes higher taxes on Ohio’s employers will create jobs in the Buckeye State.”
