Tiahrt-Hartman launch first negative ad

Wink Hartman’s Super PAC, Kansans for Responsible Government, is out with its latest political smear campaign on behalf of Todd Tiahrt: challenging Mike Pompeo’s commitment to our national security and constitutional rights. The Hartman-Tiahrt campaign once again pushed aside the truth to try and score some political points. I want to give you some facts about the NSA, and what Mike has done in Washington to protect this nation and preserve every American’s civil liberties.

As a West Point graduate and Army veteran, keeping our nation safe is not a talking point for Mike – it is a passion. Our intelligence warriors, most of whom are uniformed military personnel, are hard at work to prevent another terrorist attack from hitting the United States.

While the NSA’s work is absolutely essential in the fight against terrorism, the public must have confidence that its government is accountable and upholds the U.S. Constitution. That is why Mike offered the Pompeo Amendment, which prohibits the NSA from targeting a U.S. person or acquiring and storing the content of a U.S. person’s phone calls and e-mails. The Pompeo Amendment became law in January 2014.
