Congressman Thornberry's Statement on the Second Coronavirus (COVID-19) Relief Package

WASHINGTON- Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) released the following statement after President Trump signed into law H.R. 6201, the Families First Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response Act.

“I appreciate the President acting quickly to sign this bill into law.It will help workers and businesses, as well as remove financial obstacles to testing.It is also important to see that children and other vulnerable populations are able to get meals.”

This legislation:

• Includes requirements and resources to small businesses, including temporary federal coverage of sick and family leave and tax credits to reimburse employers;
• Provides funding for emergency unemployment insurance provisions, increasing the ability of states to process applications and payments;
• Ensures that insurance plans will fully cover COVID-19 testing;
• Funds food programs for school-aged and other vulnerable populations, ensuring important services and pre-packaged meals are available to those in need.
