Smart Meters and Invasion of Privacy

Here’s a quote from Xcel energy’s website in Minnesota that proves they can remotely control electrical devices with smart meters.

“The Saver’s Switch program allows Xcel Energy by remote control to cycle central air conditioner compressor units on and off at 15 to 20 minute intervals while the fan stays on circulating previously cooled air.”

Not only can they turn devices on and off but they can actually work the controls remotely!

Do you really want to allow this type of invasive control, within your home, without your permission?

But a search for “smart meters” on their website brings up nothing. This is deceptive businesses practices at its worst.

I wrote them an email that pretty much sums up the issues.  I publish it here so if anyone would like to copy it and mail it to their power company they may do so.
