The energy industry is always bringing us new technologies that can help our planet and help us as individuals. There are a lot of things emerging in the energy industry that people do not know about. Before we get started, you should note that the energy industry is old-school and new-school. It involves diesel and coal as well as wind and solar power. However, the old ways are just not cutting it anymore. Plus, they are not good for our planet. They are very costly as well. However, with that being said, even the new technologies are not ready to power everything. Let us take a look at some of the emerging technologies that are emerging within the energy industry today.

1. Clean Coal

It may sound a little weird, however, the energy industry is finding better ways to use coal without it producing as much pollution. This is because coal is cheap and easy to find source of energy. We cannot do away with it completely because it is the main source of energy. Instead, we are just finding better ways to use it.

In Illinois, there is a power plant being built known as the Future Gen 2.0. This power plant is a near-zero-emissions power plant. It captures over 90 percent of the carbon emissions. It uses a process called oxy-combustion to do away with sulfur, nitrogen, mercury, and oxide emissions.

2. Energy Dense Smart Cars

A lot of people are used to older cars and simply cannot adapt easily to modern-day smart cars. However, that is about to change. You can now drive a vehicle that is easier to learn. Plus, you will not be emitting any carbon dioxide when it is driven. It uses an energy-dense battery. This battery has at least twice as much energy as the batteries that are found in vehicles on the road today. They have found a way to make these options cheaper so that people can purchase them easier.

3. The Modern Turbine

We often take a look at these large turbines and see a better future with cleaner energy. However, birds used to look at these as a death sentence. Today, they are designing bladeless turbines. These turbines look like a satellite dish. Plus, the post that it is held on is not very large either. This is known as the Saphonian. Not to mention, it is a lot easier on your ears and the wildlife’s ears and it won’t kill unsuspecting birds. The Saphonian is a lot more efficient as well. It will convert energy more efficiently than traditional turbines.

4. The Motion of the Ocean

It is not how big the wave is, it is the general motion that is in the ocean. Maine is now testing this theory. They have a tidal generator that can be used to get online and it does power items. There have been a lot of coastal states that have tried to capture energy through waves, however, Maine Tidal Energy Project is making it a reality instead of a dream.

The first water turbine will run solo for a year. Once everything has been figured out over twenty more will be added. This could be enough power to operate 1,200 homes. It is not a lot of homes but it is a serious start.
