How India Is Keen on Expanding the Scope of Renewable Energy Sources

India has turned out to be one of the most rapidly developing countries of this decade. Countries have accepted that the 21st century belongs to India. PM Narendra Modi is rolling out many schemes to harness the potential of Indian youth. India is considered to be one of the youngest countries with an average age of 29 years. Moreover, the Indian population in various other countries has made a mark for its native land. Thus, with such immense youth power, India is expanding its resources, and renewable energy production is at progress too.

India has expanded the number of renewable energy plantations. It has raised awareness among people for the use of energy from sustainable sources, with 114,700 total searches every month. The country is going through a pollution crisis, with Delhi being one of the most polluted cities in the world. To solve this lethal problem, the use of sustainable sources has become inevitable.

Increase in Renewable Energy Production

As mentioned earlier, India is resorting to renewable energy production for environmental and economic purposes. It has increased renewable energy production by 10% since 2014. This hike comes with significant technical advancement, detailed research over new methods, and substantial monetary investment.

Moreover, the country made 17.29% of the power through sustainable resources in back in 2014-15. It got down to 16.52% in 2016-17. After this short term fall, it rose again to 19.10% in 2018-19 and is still growing. This shows India’s bright future in the production of renewable energy. Sustainable Resources in India

India has counted on five primary sustainable sources of energy for energy production. These sources have proven to be reliable enough to cater to the needs of the Indian population despite its massive size. The primary source of energy is solar energy. The production of power by harnessing the heat from the sun has risen from 4,600 units back in 2014-15 to 39,268 units in 2018-19.

The other sustainable sources that India is producing energy from are wind, biomass, small hydro, and large hydro. Creating electricity from biomass fuel has proven to be an efficient enough technique for its use of a large scale. However, the country has not yet been able to quit coal-powered production of energy. It has plummeted the amount of coal used but still not eliminated it.

Government Targets

Indian PM Narendra Modi has taken the initiative of skilling the youth of India through the Skill India program and increase awareness to hike the scientific advancement in the country.

The country is establishing more plants to produce pollution-free energy. It would reinvigorate the short term downfall in its economy and promote an environment of more efficient energy production.

According to UN Summit 2019, India has aimed at doubling its renewable power production by the year 2022. Thus, despite the various cultural and religious challenges that the country is facing, it will rise from the days of distress and emerge as a superpower.
