1. 69th Regiment Armory: Designated on June 19th, 1996, it is home to the 1913 watershed armory show, which introduces America to modern art. A must see NYC attraction.

2. African Burial Ground: Designated April 19th 1993. It was dedicated as National Monument on October 5th, 2007. It is the burial ground of over four hundred (400) Africans from the 17th and 18th centuries.

3. American Stock Exchange: Known as AMEX, it was designated on June 6th, 1978 and is one of the internationally renowned stock exchanges in the world, dates back to colonial times. Recently acquired by NYSE Euronext for $260 million.

4. Daily News Building: The first free-standing skyscraper carries with it a historical background. Visit this to see the evolution of man of the 20th century.

5. Bell Laboratories Building: Anyone aware with recent technologies would know the name of Bell Laboratories. Home to multiple inventions including the vacuum tube which later became the basis for the invention of transistors to which we owe nearly all our recent technological advancements to. This building was designated on May 15th, 1975 and is a must see NYC attraction for any geek or techie.

6. New York Public Library: One of the most prestigious libraries in US and in the world. Designated on December 21st, 1965, houses thousands of rare and ancient books and scripts. An excellent NYC attraction for book enthusiasts.

7. The Rockefeller Center: Symbol of successful urban planning projects of 20th century in the US, it completely changed mid-town Manhattan. Home to the popular TV show Saturday Night Live.

8. St. Paul’s Chapel: One of the very few surviving churches of colonial age and also the site where George Washington worshipped after his inauguration. Visit this church to relive the colonial era in all its glory.

9. Empire State Building: The world’s tallest building from 1931-1971, it was designated as a National Monument on June 24th 1986. Visit it at night to see flood lights that change color depending upon the occasion. Observatory at 86th floor is a romantic place to propose your loved one or simply enjoy the overwhelming view of Manhattan.

10. Statue of Liberty: The top honors goes to the symbol of freedom and the friendship of the French and American nations. A MUST for every tourist.
