Chapter 13: How to deal with a 21st century woman--good vs dysfunctional ones

          There are many wonderful women out there.  They come in all­ sizes, shapes, interests and mentalities.  They come in a variety­ of colors and levels of attractiveness.  (We men, also, arrive in ­many varieties and range from Tom Cruise/Val Kilmer good looking­ to so ugly, we have to sneak up on a water fountain to get a­ drink.)

          It might be noted, in the mating game, you could start high ­when it comes to asking out attractive ladies, but if you find­ yourself striking out, you’ll have to settle for lesser levels of ­beauty.  It’s the way of the jungle, unless you have a huge ­bankroll, or can dance, or drive a Lexus to your million-dollar ­mansion. 

          That’s an alternate idea: work your fanny off the first 20­ years of your life so you can have a Donald Trump show piece like­ his latest lady on your arm.  Many men do it and many men enjoy­ it.  Of course, her only spiritual connection to you is your ­wallet. 

          On the whole, most women want a solid relationship with a ­man.  However, many have been hurt so often they have given up.  ­They stay home with their cats, or find girlfriends who offer companionship.  Many­ are turned off to the bar scene and haven’t discovered dance ­classes.  Unfortunately, it’s a hodgepodge of confusion out there ­and it’s not getting any better.  Dating clubs would be nice, but­ they cost a fortune and offer no guarantees.

          One of the biggest problems is the middle age angry ­dysfunctional woman.  (Also realize plenty of angry dysfunctional ­males stagger around out there, too.)  She’s been hurt, abused, ­lied to, cheated on, and two screaming kids dangle off her apron­ strings.  She can relate to the sitcom “Married With Children,” ­but she’s no longer married.  Even if the kids are gone, she’s ­peeved because her ex was the devil himself.

          She’s so angry, she can hardly contain herself.  No matter ­how nice she looks or dresses, that woman has a case against men. ­ It might be her dad or her last two lovers, or her two ­ex-husbands.  She never thinks why she picked them.  The key is, ­she may be a dysfunctional woman in need of a thousand hours of ­therapy–even then, it’s potluck whether she might pull it ­together.

          The key in this situation is you.  Once you observe and hear­ the problems (which she’ll gladly tell you), make a decision ­based on common sense.  When you see big hurts coming out of her ­and her body language is defensive (legs crossed and arms ­folded), or if she doesn’t show any enthusiasm for you after the­ fifth date–it’s time to leave–”hop on the bus Gus.”
