How to Deal with a 21st Century Woman--Power struggles

          “It’s a man’s world.”  You’ve heard it from them and you’ve­ heard it from your mother.  You believed it but now you’re not so ­sure.

          We heard an old lady lament, “Clint Eastwood is the last real ­man.”

          The newest man is Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis or Val Kilmer.

          What made such men?  When it came to Clint, he was (is)big, handsome and always ­got the girl.  Did that make him a real man?  The fact is, he ­rode into the sunset with the woman, but never had to live day to­ day with her mood swings, PMS, insecurities, jealousies­ disdain for sports, or her headaches.  On the reverse of that, she probably didn’t have to live with his hard drinking, womanizing and other male traits.

          He was heroic, but that was on screen.  Clint never faced­ a live bullet or anyone who threw a real punch.  Off screen, he ­was married and divorced several times and had a pack of­ children, dirty diapers and crying wives who suffered from­ insecurities when he was out with his mistresses.  If he is the ­last real man, you have to wonder what it is that women want from ­us?  It boils down to image and fantasy.

          The same goes for Cruise, Kilmer, Sean Connery, Billy D. Williams, Ricky Martin, Denzel Washington and other Hollywood stars.  They live fantasy lives on the big screen.

          Are you a dominant or passive man?  Most women want a ­dominant man, but many want to dominate their man to fulfill ­their ‘secret fantasy wish box.’  Just about every woman, who ­doesn’t like something about her man, secretly knows that she­ will change him after marrying him.  If you’re the type of man­ who attracts or is attracted to a strong woman, you better get­ used to the idea of not being in the driver’s seat.

          If you’re dominant, or prone to equality, you need to find ­that out before getting committed.  Otherwise, you will have a­ battle on your hands.  The key is to figure those things out ­before you find yourself emotionally locked into a relationship.  ­As to the question of who should have the most power in a­ relationship, we’ve noticed a nuance in that, any man who is­ truly strong–can share power and find it emotionally fulfilling. ­No matter what, a team effort in a relationship is the best way­ to win the mating game.

          If she makes more money than you do, it’s important that you­ find a balance in your relationship.  It gets down to acceptance. ­ It’s a problem because ‘traditionally’ men brought home the ­paycheck, and were head of the house.  Women were brought up in that tradition, but the tradition no longer applies.  Therefore,­ you have to figure out which way you can handle the new ­’equality’.  Some men find themselves saying, “It’s no big deal,” ­but in fact, it is a very big deal.  When it comes to major­ decisions, she wants it her way and she may make more money, so ­she has the power. 

          You need to be ready for that.
