Robin Williams: 1951 - 2014

The world lost one of it’s best and brightest actors this week. Oscar-winner Robin Williams was found dead in his California home on Sunday. Investigators believe it was a possible suicide.

Those of us here at WHDT remember Robin Williams best as the alien from Mork and Mindy, the genie from Aladdin, the psychiatrist from Good Will Hunting and the grown-up Peter Pan from Hook.

Even the funniest comedians on the planet couldn’t outmatch his quick wit. The sad news of Williams’ passing was met with love and support from some of his closest friends:

Conan O’Brien tweeted, Absolutely stunned to hear the news about Robin Williams. It’s unimaginable to me that we’ve lost such a genuinely funny and sweet man.

Fellow funnyman Steve Carell simply says, Robin Williams made the world a little bit better. RIP.

And one of his fellow cast members from Good Will Hunting, Minnie Driver tweeted, My Heart’s broken. Robin was a beautiful, kind soul. Can’t bear that he’s gone. So incredibly sorry for his family.

His family both sent their love and memories on Twitter too. His wife, Susan Schneider says, “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken.”

William’s last post on social media was to wish his daughter Zelda a happy birthday.

She tweeted this last night, “You alone will have the stars as no one else has them. In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. She added, “I love you. I miss you. I’ll try to keep looking up.”

Williams was 63 years old.
