Hillsong Documentary Back on Track for Release

A lot of people were disappointed a couple months ago when the music documentary ‘Hillsong — Let Hope Rise’ was pulled from a pre-Easter release.  Warner Bros had originally announced the springtime event last July.  The studio was acting as a distributor for Alcorn Entertainment.  According to Variety, an Alcorn spokesman said “the company was unable to close the rights to the deal for the movie.”  But Relativity Studios announced today that  it will distribute the film nationwide on May 29th.

Matt Alvarez, of Relativity, says, “We are excited to share ‘Hillsong – Let Hope Rise’ with moviegoers across the US. Chronicling this Christian band’s humble beginnings to their present day worldwide ministry is truly remarkable and worthy of their story being told on the big screen.”

The documentary covers 30 years, beginning when the band started in a small church in Sydney, Australia.  It also features Hillsong United today as the band works on its latest album.

Hillsong Church was founded in 1983.  It now has locations in 14 cities and weekly attendance of over 100 thousand.
