Best Movie Streaming Services 2017 – Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and More

Have you met someone who says they don’t like watching movies? Yeah, they’re either lying to sound suave, or they just have big boring personalities. There’s so many genres of movies, and so many stories, artists and ideas within each making every combination a pretty amazing experience. It is like travelling and meeting new people, only you can do it without leaving your home.

So if you’re like me and interested in travelling through the TV, I have a list of the best movie streaming services you can use. Download or subscribe to these, and you’ll never be bored as long as there is content being produced anywhere in the world.

Amazon Prime

It’s only been a short while since Amazon Prime came out into the market, and it has already conquered a sizeable fan base. The service is preferred because it lends itself as a priority delivery marker for when you shop on Amazon, as well as a video sharing platform for when you want the content to be accessible to people through a URL, without need on emails, phone numbers or social media information. This is in addition to amazing content available on the service. Plus, you get access to Lightning Deals 30 minutes before the regular customer, and songs, books and more all collected in one app.

ShowBox

ShowBox has enjoyed a lot of popularity for over 3 years now, and the reason is not hard to decipher. The app has been constantly updating itself to match user preferences. Presently, it is among the most optimised apps. ShowBox lets you watch a lot of movies and TV shows, along with documentaries and other content. You can choose from multiple resolutions and even torrent them to watch offline. It has a sister app called MovieBox you can install through vShare.

Hulu

Basically everyone’s heard of Hulu. It is simple, coherently arranged, and cheaper than Amazon Prime. There’s original content to enjoy and exclusive content from the latest popular shows. But of course, it has its shortcomings too. It can only be accessed in the USA. If you’re fond of travelling, you cannot catch up with your favorite show’s seasons in Bali or Morocco. You’ll need to use a VPN, and who wants all that complication, right? I’d say the effort is worth it; Hulu does have a lot of good to offer to users. And the lack of any added benefits is bargained with the lower price. Definitely check out the free trial.

YouTube

Ok, I know you’re thinking YouTube is low-hanging fruit for me to name. But seriously, this app really deserves the mention. For one I am surprised how few people use YouTube for movie night, when there’s so many good movies you can watch without having to record them earlier, download them or subscribe to a service when you’re only going to use it occasionally. YouTube is known for the quick streaming and adjustable visual detail. Plus, everyone’s familiar with it. Want to watch a movie? Look it up, and you can buy it to stream whenever you feel bored! Plus, there are movies that are free, and many cost barely anything.

Terrarium TV

Terrarium TV too is relatively new to the scene, having clocked in barely a year. And yet it has emerged as an entertainment powerhouse. The app is a lot like ShowBox in that you get movies and TV shows to watch. But it is bigger and better than most other streaming services in terms of the size of its library, the extent of customisation and aspects like other aspects. You have multiple source links for each movie to keep buffering even in high traffic. The settings might be said to be too elaborate for many tastes, but that is usually not a problem in the least.

Note: Buying ad free license has previously been problematic. Although the developer refunded the money, it is not the best idea to pay to remove ads if you can live with them.

Snag Films

A lot of people complain they don’t like Apps that stream pop content. Which is fair, considering how trope-laden the common movie is. Snag Films gives you more than a semblance of variety. For one, it breaks the mould in the common genres represented. You’ll find Black cinema, Korean films, LGBT movies, less known movies with big stars and other sorts of artsy, dark and unapologetic cinema. There’s regular movies and TV shows as well, but categories like Rockumentaries take the cake.

Crackle

Crackle is amazing because it is well recognised, appreciated and has a pretty neat collection on original content. There’s movies, TV shows and other video content. The original content is the real star attraction though. You just have to watch Obama in Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The service is owned by Sony, and it is free, which is a major advantage over other services touted as its competitors. It does have ads though, which aren’t really unbearable.

Netflix

To end this list, we present you perhaps the strongest candidate to be on your list. It is Netflix, which has even won Emmys for its original content, including for Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and Bloodline. Plus, it has won Golden Globes and other prestigious awards, so you know this isn’t just a portal to watch a movie at home instead of going to the theater in the mall. Netflix has customisations, is available across devices, and streams in the best possible quality, most shows being broadcast on the service right at the time they are being aired on TV. The original shows and movies are so good that several apps and services carry a separate category for them. It does demand that you pay, but I say it is worth every penny.
