Can We Modify Weather in the Future?

There are still a lot of things that happen around us that we cannot explain, or even if we can explain them, we can’t replicate or change them.

Most of these things are a part of nature, and darn, Mother Nature is very strict when it comes to her rules.

One of the things that have been a part of this world ever since the beginning is weather. There are many folklores, and fairy tales around weather. Oh, and don’t just ask about the love ballads & serenades that have been going on ever since man has learnt to read and write.

Some people even synchronise their mood around weather. Which brings us to the question “can we modify weather in the future?”

The answer is yes, we can.

There Is Already Weather Modification

People have already been quite successful in modifying weather, ever since the 1960s.(1)

One of the most popular forms of weather modification that works right now is cloud seeding. Planes soar higher than clouds, and then unload “seeds” of water, onto the clouds, which then store this water, and pour it down on the land below when the time comes. It is like an artificial way of making sure it rains. Another reason why weather modification has been used in the past, and even in the present, is to help the lands be protected from hail or hurricanes, and the after-effects of these dangerous weather states.

What Weather Modification Might Be Like in the Future?

Since we are already modifying weather right now, maybe in the future we will be able to modify weather on a much more global scale.(2)

With the weathers right now, there are places in the world that are suffering from too much rain, ultimately flooding entire places. On the contrary are some places where there is almost no rain at all. The haze ends up damaging crops and even worse, physically damage living creatures living under that climate.

By being able to control weather modification, we will be able to regulate rain in the entire world, and each area will be given a safe amount of rain that it requires. 

Yes, by being able to modify temperature on a more global scale, even weather might turn into a political weapon, but it all depends on the mindset that we, as humans, will have in the future. Another thing that we might be able to do is control the overall weather of a certain area, by covering it with clouds, or with rain.(3)

This will help humanity battle against the raging ever-so-increasing global temperatures, and ultimately make Earth a much safer place for the future generations to live in, unlike where we are headed right now.

Conclusion

Though this is all just a prediction, there is actual research being done on how to control weather. Some people think satellites will help, while other people are thinking of throwing missiles in the atmosphere that will help shroud the world in a protective layer. In the end, we will have to see which turn the world does take.
