The War In Ukraine

In the Ukraine/ Russian conflict both sides issue propaganda. This is a feature of all wars. Propaganda usually attempts to steel the resolve of the population and armed forces, recruit other nations to their side, and to discredit the opposing nations as much as possible.

Of course Ukraine is fighting for her sovereignty, It has been invaded and seeks to assert its right to exist as a sovereign nation.

As far as I can tell the Ukrainians are very good at propaganda, both it getting it very widely disseminated and in its content. I have not seen or heard much of Russian propaganda; the news sources available to me hardly refer to it. In this case the Ukraine is attempting to draw the western democracies deeper and deeper in the war, claiming that they should combatants.

Of course, truth is always the first casualty of war, and this conflict is no different. Some truth has been ignored or distorted in the present conflict, including

1. the untruth that NATO is a purely defensive alliance;
2. the claim that Ukraine is a democracy; while it has some features of a democracy it does not fulfill all the requirements of one;
3. Civilian deaths’ caused by the Russian military are war crimes. They are not. If they were, then civilian deaths caused by the USA, the UK and other members of NATO in Syria, Iraq, Vietnam, Libya and other places would be war crimes, but they are not considered as war crimes by those who committed them.
4. No one mentions corruption in Ukraine.
5. No one mentions the money that the European Union has poured into Ukraine over the years.
6. No one mentions Hunter Biden

Eventuality history will write a less distorted view of this war than we are being fed now. With all the news agencies reporting the war is it too much to ask that they do so without distortions inaccuracies and untruths?
