We’re looking for Freedom Volunteers
The Freedom Association is offering an opportunity for volunteers to work with the Communications Manager and the Campaigns Manager, supporting the new Freedoms Under Fire project which will highlight losses of individual freedom and an ever encroaching state.
Freedom Volunteers will be involved in monitoring broadcast and social media for relevant topics, helping develop responses and publicising them. They will also have the opportunity to be involved in conducting research, contributing to other on-going campaigns, assisting with event management and maintaining The Freedom Association’s online presence.
Freedom Volunteers will be self-starters with excellent communication skills and at least a basic knowledge of UK politics and the media. You’ll also, obviously, have to have a commitment to The Freedom Association’s aims and values.
Successful applicants will be invited aboard HMS President (1918) to work in a small and committed team for a period of time which best suits the candidate, ideally a commitment of around three months. There is the opportunity for successful applicants to work both full-time and part-time. London travel expenses and a lunch allowance will be provided.
The first Freedom Volunteers will join The Freedom Association after Monday 24th March.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individuals who wishes to develop skills and experience in Westminster. A large number of previous volunteers and interns have gone on to have successful careers in Parliament and the wider political scene.
Some of the tasks undertaken by Freedom Volunteers to support the Freedoms Under Fire project will include:
- Media monitoring for freedom-related stories and political developments
- Compiling a daily summary of topical freedom-related issues and stories
- Helping develop responses to freedom-related issues in the media
- Carrying out research on freedom-related issues
- Monitoring and updating The Freedom Association’s website and social media presence
The ideal Freedom Volunteers will have the following skills and experience:
- Excellent communication skills
- An understanding of UK politics and the media
- Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel and website management
- Experience of social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook
- Excellent organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team and independently
- A commitment to The Freedom Association’s Seven Principles of a Free Society.
