But then – after just about every bit of information in the article turned out to be wrong – the newspaper went to great lengths to deny they had misled readers. The Mail’s tortured explanations by its Corrections Editor Hilary Kingsley can be seen in full here:

But today – surprise surprise – we get this ‘clarification‘ tucked away where the Mail is really really really hoping nobody will notice:

Actually immigration has hit 5.2 million since 1997 and more than 7 million since 1970 or more that the entire population of Britain in 1600, that is about 1/6th of the entire islands population and they are crowded into an area smaller than most states in America. There was no public agreement for the immigration wave which was done for economic and political reasons divorced from the rights of those most affected – the indigenous population, tha mail is only selling this as fear news because it can no longer sell it as a benefit.
