Sharia compliance on the rise in Britain as banking and fast-food outlets fold

Lloyds TSB, one of the major national bank chains in the UK, has announced it is creating interest and penalty free bank accounts for Muslims that do not charge interest and other fees that other customers are generally subjected to.

The bank recently mailed out a booklet to all customers explaining its new fee structure which included the following statement: “We are removing the monthly overdraft management fee of £6 from our Islamic Account, Islamic Student Account and Islamic Graduate Account. So, if you use an unplanned overdraft on these accounts, there won’t be any charges.”

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph one customer, Anita Milton, a nurse of New Eltham in south London, said: “I can’t believe that they’re thinking of offering one account for Muslims and making everyone else pay for the same service. Do I have to change my religion to get the best deal?”

A Lloyd’s spokesman attempted to provide clarification saying: “Our focus has always been on meeting the needs of UK businesses and personal customers. We offer a range of retail, business and investment products to meet the needs of our customers, available through all of our branches across the UK. The Islamic current account is for customers who cannot receive credit or debit interest due to their religious beliefs. All of our Islamic accounts comply with Islamic law and are available to anyone regardless of background or faith.

These accounts are structured differently to our traditional accounts and do not offer credit interest or other features that are available on our other products. A comparison with the overdraft charging structure on other accounts is meaningless.”

Except that a comparison is not meaningless! Barclays, Co-Op and RBS do not offer these kinds of accounts suggesting there is no profit for them in doing so. This leads to the reasonable suggestion that Lloyds is pandering to Islam, with speculation required as to the exact benefit.

This is underscored by James Dailey, of the consumer group Fairer Finance, who said: “The best thing would be for everyone to switch to the Islamic account to avoid these charges. But if everyone does that I doubt it will be financially viable for Lloyds.”

Without saying it directly, Dailey is saying that the accounts are money losers for the bank. Once again British culture has been forced to make an adaption it would not otherwise do in order to accommodate a new culture and an aggressive religion whose aim is to replace traditional Britain with Sharia law.

Along with Lloyds TSB Banking comes American restaurant chain Subway Sub. The British arm of the deli style sandwich maker has allowed 185 of its locations in the UK and Ireland (about 1 in 8) to ban pork and introduce halal only meat selections.

A Subway spokeswoman put a good spin on the decision saying: “The growing popularity of the Subway chain with the diverse multicultural population across the UK and Ireland means we have to balance the values of many religious communities with the overall aim of improving the health and welfare standards of animals. We put a programme into place in 2007 to ensure that the population demographic is taken into account when new store openings are considered in order that we meet consumer demand in each location. All our suppliers comply with EU animal welfare legislation as a minimum and we require suppliers of halal products to adopt the stunning of animals prior to their slaughter. All halal Subway stores have numerous signs stating that they serve halal food.”

Now that’s some nice spin and the writer deserves a raise. But there’s an eerie question that arises! She states “we require suppliers of halal products to adopt the stunning of animals”. Abattoirs are already required to do this when preparing halal meats unless they have a certified exemption, which apparently about twelve places do.

So does the Subway statement have any substance? Or was the spokeswoman simply using convincing language when in reality she had no idea what is really happening. The wording gives a lot of wiggle room so maybe we’ve been served a sandwich that‘s been a little toasted.

In both Subway’s case as well as Lloyd’s Sharia is slowly getting its way in the UK. Jewish families have lived in Britain a long time and have never sought special exemptions in the manner of requiring others to change how they do business. But they always intended to exist peaceably in the society in which they inhabited.

Islam is not the religion of peace! It has one intention and that is to supersede the matrix of a society with its own. While society from government to business slowly acquiesce in the name of accommodation and tolerance Islam lets the new norm settle for a short term before angrily rising up and demanding more changes. Their strategies are indistinguishable from radical leftism which may be part of the reason the two get along together so cozily, despite having nothing in common.

At some point Britain must either stand up or get completely rolled. They do not face an enemy that has any interest in negotiated settlement. It may be used as a tactic, but their ultimate goal is absolute takeover.
