Justice for SAS hero Albert Patterson
Albert Patterson, a former SAS hero who served with distinction during the Falklands War, was handed a 15 month sentence this week for the crime of having a trophy handgun and ammunition from his time during the war with Argentina. The gun was not loaded and was stored away safely. Mr Patterson has also been working with a local agency in the Helmand Province in Afghanistan in recent years, making sure they have electricity and water. His barrister said that Mr Patterson has a long-term relationship with locals meaning he can access these areas all while risking capture by ISIS.
The Sun newspaper has set-up a petition on Change.org calling for his sentence to be suspended. The Freedom Association wholeheartedly offers our support to Mr Patterson and we urge all our members and supporters to sign it. Mr Patterson is also being supported by Col. Richard Kemp, a former of commander of British Forces in Afghanistan, and by Field Marshall Lord Guthrie, a former Chief of the Defence Staff, who also served with distinction in the SAS.
