Jeremy Corbyn on the Fire on Ilkley Moor

Jeremy Corbyn has blamed the fire on Ilkley Moor on capitalism-caused global warming. Or, to use his own (less honest and direct) words, he said:

“Awful scenes on Ilkey Moor and yet more reminders of why we urgently need to tackle climate change.”

I’m surprised that Corbyn didn’t blame it on “austerity” or the lack of a Marxist government.

Did Corbyn say this before he realised that three people had been arrested for arson? Of course Corbyn and his religious disciples will subtly change their argument now. They’ll say something like this: “Yes, it may be arson. But it wouldn’t have been so bad it it weren’t for man-caused global warming.”

But it has been worse before. The fires on Ilkley Moor in 2006 were worse and more widespread. There was also a serious case of arson of couple of years ago in exactly the same place. What’s more, in you read local history, you’ll find moor fires almost every year stretching through the 1980s and 1970s – back to the 1930s and beyond.

So Corbyn is indeed the most typical of typical politicians – despite the hype from Corbynite religious zealots. Yes, Saint Jeremy of Islington simply couldn’t resist turning this issue into a political weapon to advance himself and the cause of the Labour Party. How typical of a politician. How supremely shallow. So don’t buy the hype that Corbyn is different. He clearly isn’t – in any way.
