The glaring cracks in modern US history: a Slog special report on reappraisal

My favourite time on Gambia’s Smiley Coast is about 4.30 pm. There’s a brine-tinged breeze that whistles like distant pulsating thunder in the ears, and one’s forehead is only gently creased by the diving Tropical sun. Between me and the curling waves licking at slate-grey rocks is the fine raw material for a trillion egg timers, and on this beach the indigenous conmen (or ‘bumsters’) refine their craft of inventing life-scripts of grinding poverty in a never-ending attempt to extract easy money by torturing the naive guilt of First World tourists. At a level both above and below this primary sense experience, palm tree fronds wave like slow-mo Coronation crowds.

Perhaps the following observation might qualify as a cliché wrapped in banality, but I go to the beach at this time most days outside the Wet Season for two reasons: first, for calm reflection about, and reinforcement of, my belief that the planet is far more enduring than Homo sapiens; and second, because soaking up late sun for 50 minutes or so with zero protection not only speeds up tanning, it means the vast majority of people can avoid using the pore-blocking products of the sun lotion sector of Big Pharma.

There are still very few people who believe my last assertion there: and of course, there are certain very easily damaged skin types that represent an exception to that rule. But I once had a sun lotion client, and I’m here to tell you, if one uses common sense about time of day and length of exposure as I suggest, you do not need pharmaceutical intervention. It was the ozone-layer holes cancer panic that once more allowed Pharma to introduce huge range extensions at much higher prices. Now it’s become undeniable fact – and yet another dimension of the First World’s growing hypochondriacal obsessions.

The truth is that the Earth’s ozone layer is well on the way to recovery, thanks to decades of work to get rid of chlorofluorocarbons, during which nearly 99% of banned ozone-depleting substances have been phased out. This represents a rare occasion when Earth protection was genuinely needed. But typically, news of ozone cover reinstatement has been kept very low profile. As usual, multinational lobbying ensures such omission.

Now in many ways, all that may seem like an oddly lumbering introduction to today’s major story here at The Slog – but it isn’t. It was 1980 – forty-three years ago – when the first ozone hole was discovered. What I propose to write about in the rest of this post dates back to 1960, the election of Jack Kennedy as the first Catholic US President, and the way a whole generation’s worth of history has been both hidden and perverted; so much so that, if the following analysis were to be proved right, an entire genre of history books will be forever damned as a one hundred per cent lie about not just the reasons for varietal courses of events in the United States of America, but also the real achievements and personalities of the major political players involved.

This is not a “scoop” – the only personal credit I will allow is that I am offering a record for all time of what Tucker Carlson revealed to his own personal and career peril last January. There are a few personal confirmations of Tucker’s account based on other sources, but nothing beyond that. Chances are, you’ve never heard of his version of history…because it was Unhappened in truly Orwellian style soon after it appeared. But for me, it looks suspiciously like the real reason Carlson has been not only dismissed, but contractually silenced: and I pray that this man has the security in place he is going to need from here on.

What’s your image of Richard Nixon now? Before you take that thought any further, ponder on this fact: in 1972, he won the POTUS election in the biggest landslide of all time. A majority of us – American or otherwise – see him today as something of a septic carbuncle on the face of White House history. But he was the most popular US President in history – bar none.

What’s your image of WaPo reporter Bob Woodward? After the huge worldwide success of the movie All the President’s Men, right around the world Woodward was overwhelmingly imagined as the blond clean-cut hero portrayed by Robert Redford. But how would you feel if told that he wasn’t a true journalist at all? And reprising the film’s highly emotive title, how would you respond if told that none of the ‘Watergate Plumbers’ were the President’s men at all?

How do you imagine Dick Nixon felt about Jack Kennedy? Being himself the progeny of a relatively ordinary Quaker background, I’d be prepared to bet that your belief is that Nixon bitterly resented the enormous wealth of the Bootlegger Joe Kennedy’s spawn. But evidence from various quarters suggests this was not the case.

OK, below are some at times lengthy excerpts from Carlson’s broadcast of January 20th last. [My own edit additions are highlighted in blue]

“If you really want to understand how the American government actually works at the highest levels, and if you want to know why they don’t teach history any more, one thing you should know is that the most popular president in American history was Richard Nixon. Richard Nixon. Yet somehow, without a single vote being cast by a single American voter, Richard Nixon was kicked out of office and replaced by the only unelected president in American history. So, we went for the most popular president to a president nobody voted for. Wait a minute, you may ask, why didn’t I know that? Wasn’t Richard Nixon a criminal?

“Wasn’t he despised by all decent people? No, he wasn’t. In fact, if any president could claim to be the people’s choice, it was Richard Nixon. Richard Nixon was re-elected in 1972 by the largest margin of the popular vote ever recorded before or since. Nixon got 17 million more votes than his opponent. Less than two years later, he was gone. He was forced to resign and in his place, an obedient servant of the federal agencies called Gerald Ford took over the White House. [ The Watergate scandal did for Nixon, but in reality there is nothing to tie him to the Plumbers, all of whom were CIA or connected thereto. They were bugging the Watergate complex as part of a routine caper to try and smear liberal leftist Daniel Ellsberg. Wikipedia says they did this “under the direction of John Ehrlichman or his staff within the White House”. The vagueness of that reflects the fact that this wasn’t a White House op at all. Nixon had no motive to bug the Democrats: all the polls said he was a shoo-in for a second term. This was an unelected Surveillance State operation: the Bill of Rights institute asserts that ‘The road to Watergate began with a covert White House unit called “the Plumbers”. In fact it was run and funded by the CIA. The White House link was never proved, and is counter-intuitive at every level. At this time, I was working for ad agency J Walter Thompson, where Nixon senior staffers Haldeman and Ehrlichman had worked. I was involved in the Kodak account, the American Account Director for which was a guy commonly known in JWT to be CIA. I was told later, as the scandal developed through 1972) that Haldeman had one meeting with Plumber Gordon Liddy, decided he was a nut, and threw him out.]

“How did that happen? Well, it’s a long story, but here are the highlights and they tell you a lot. Richard Nixon believed that elements in the federal bureaucracy were working to undermine the American system of government and had been doing that for a long time. He often said that. He was absolutely right. On June 23, 1972, Nixon met with the then–CIA director, Richard Helms, at the White House. During the conversation, which thankfully was tape-recorded, Nixon suggested he knew “who shot John,” meaning President John F. Kennedy. Nixon further implied that the CIA was directly involved in Kennedy’s assassination, which we now know it was. Helms’s telling response? Total silence, but for Nixon, it didn’t matter because it was already over. Four days before, on June 19, The Washington Post had published the first of many stories about a break-in at the Watergate office building.” [Little things often tell us a lot. For example, TV crews for the Nixon/Kennedy debates are on the record as saying that Dick Nixon was hugely impressed by Kennedy’s performance, and chatted with him afterwards, ALWAYS referring to him as ‘John’ not Jack. Nixon did indeed have a good idea who’d shot JFK: the CIA Plumber G Gordon Liddy.

We have to remember here who first alerted the American people to the Military Industrial Complex (MIC): JFK’s predecessor as POTUS, Eisenhower. He warned Kennedy before the inauguration that the main enemy of the US was the CIA/Pentagon axis, not Russia. Dick Nixon was his VP for eight years, and Nixon late in life admitted to a biographer that he totally bought into the Deep State’s existence. CIA director Richard Helms also knew this. Carlson is sure that Nixon was smeared over Watergate to get him out, and flunky Gerald Ford in.]

“Unbeknownst to Nixon and unreported by The Washington Post, four of the five burglars worked for the CIA. The first of many dishonest Watergate stories was written by a 29-year-old metro reporter called Bob Woodward. Who exactly was Bob Woodward? Well, he wasn’t a journalist. Bob Woodward had no background whatsoever in the news business. Instead, Bob Woodward came directly from the classified areas of the federal government. Shortly before Watergate, Woodward was a naval officer at the Pentagon. [Maybe it’s a bad use of words by Carlson, but he’s being a tad black-and-white here when he says ‘no background whatsoever in the news business’. Woodward had in fact applied for several journalistic jobs before being hired by WaPo. But the connection to the Pentagon is real enough: after graduating from Yale, Bob Woodward began a five-year tour of duty in the United States Navy. During his service in the Navy (he was not drafted) Woodward served aboard the USS Wright, and was one of two officers assigned to move or handle nuclear launch codes the Wright carried in its capacity as a National Emergency Command Post Afloat (NECPA). At one time, he was close to Admiral Robert O. Welander, being communications officer on the USS Fox under Welander’s command. This was no ordinary naval career: he was privy to top level State secrets and emergency preparations for a possible sneak attack on the US. In reality, a spook: hardly the actions of a card-carrying Democrat in the make-love-not-war radical protest 1960s decade]

“He had a top-secret clearance. He worked regularly with the intel agencies. At times, Woodward was even detailed to the Nixon White House, where he interacted with Richard Nixon’s top aides. Soon after leaving the Navy, for reasons that have never been clear, Woodward was hired by the most powerful news outlet in Washington and assigned the biggest story in the country. Just to make it crystal clear what was actually happening, Woodward’s main source for his Watergate series was the deputy director of the FBI, Mark Felt, and Mark Felt ran — and we’re not making this up — the FBI’s COINTELPRO program, which was designed to secretly discredit political actors, the federal agencies wanted to destroy — people like Richard Nixon. And at the same time, those same agencies were also working to take down Nixon’s elected vice president, Spiro Agnew. In the fall of 1973, Agnew was indicted for tax evasion and forced to resign. His replacement was a colorless congressman from Grand Rapids called Gerald Ford.

“What was Ford’s qualification for the job? Well, he had served on the Warren Commission, which absolved the CIA of responsibility for President Kennedy’s murder. Nixon was strong-armed into accepting Gerald Ford by Democrats in Congress. “We gave Nixon no choice but Ford,” Speaker of the House Carl Albert later boasted. Eight months later, Gerald Ford of the Warren Commission was the president of the United States. See how that works? So those are the facts, not speculation. All of that actually happened. None of it’s secret. Most of it actually is on Wikipedia, but no mainstream news organization has ever told that story. It’s so obvious, yet it’s intentionally ignored and as a result, permanent Washington remains in charge of our political system.

“Unelected lifers in the federal agencies make the biggest decisions in American government and crush anyone who tries to rein them in and in the process, our democracy becomes a joke. Now, you may have noticed that the very first person in the Trump administration the agencies went after was Gen. Michael Flynn. Why Flynn? Because Mike Flynn was a career Army intel officer who ran the Defense Intelligence Agency. In other words, Mike Flynn knew exactly how the system worked, and as a result, he was capable of fighting back. Four days after Donald Trump’s inauguration, the FBI lured Mike Flynn into a meeting without his lawyer, concocted a series of fake crimes and forced him to resign.

“So, that’s how things actually work in Washington. Let’s stop lying about it. Joe Biden, meanwhile, whooped like a hyena when the Justice Department destroyed Mike Flynn. So, there is, we have to say, a certain perverse justice in watching something very similar happen to Joe Biden himself six years later. Joe Biden does not deserve our sympathy. He’s being shafted, but don’t weep for him, and yet, the rest of us do deserve a better system, an actual democracy. When people nobody voted for run everything, you are not living in a free country.”

[I have a source of advanced years (yes, even more advanced than mine) I code-name Mayflower. This person gave me a clear lead over the MSM twelve years ago by explaining how the senior world banking acolytes close to the IMF wanted an ‘Americanised idiot’ like Christine LaGarde to get the vacant IMF job in preference to a solid EU intellectual like Dominic Strauss-Kahn. Everything the source predicted happened. This person has never given me a bum steer. Mayflower told me in late 2022, “JFK was shot at close range from a below-ground grid space by a CIA marksman. The marksman was G Gordon Liddy. Nixon knew this, and also knew that LBJ was up to his neck in the conspiracy”.

Nixon told the biographer mentioned earlier, “Both LBJ and I wanted very much to be President. The difference is that I wasn’t prepared to kill in order to get it”.]

G. Gordon Liddy died in 2021. Still regularly referred to as “FBI”, he was almost unique in seeming to have a carte blanche for FBI, CIA and Pentagon Special Ops funding.

John Ehrlichman died in 1999. HR Haldeman died in 1993. Bob Woodward is eighty years old and still going. Richard Nixon died in 1994. Carl Bernstein is 79 and still with us.

Lyndon Baines Johnson died in 1973. Half an hour after JFK was shot, LBJ told his mistress, “We ain’t gonna have to take any more shit from them Kennedy boys”.

After reading this reappraisal of key players in the last sixty years of unelected malignancy, psy-ops, false flags and redacted files, I suspect you might agree with me that Tucker Carlson’s demotion to silent gardening leave happened above all because of his admirable research nailing how Americans have been fed nonstop lies by almost every élite described in yesterday’s Slogpost about what ties the First World’s Totalitarian Rainbow together.

I confess to having finally read the transcript of Carlson’s broadcast last Thursday with a growing sense of unease – caused largely by how the Nixon reappraisal not only hangs together well and solves several enigmas, it positively forces every open minded observer of events to think again about what’s real and false in the history that people of my generation read and analysed from our early teens onwards.

And yet there is still more. Nixon brought the boys home from Vietnam, and engineered a sensible rapprochement with the People’s Republic of China. This too would not have endeared him to the Infinite War mentality of the Pentagon.

The guy was a politician and thus slippery: but he was a curate’s egg, not a monster. I end on a few Nixon quotes which chime with my own outlook on life very closely:

If you take no risks, you will suffer no defeats. But if you take no risks, you win no victories.

Those who hate you don’t win unless you hate them, and then you destroy yourself.

We cannot learn from one another until we stop shouting at one another – until we speak quietly enough so that our words can be heard as well as our voices

Federal and State laws should be changed to no longer make it a crime to possess Marijuana for private use.

And a final one of my own:

‘To keep an open mind, be sensitive to the smoke that gets in your eyes’
