Not So Social

I recently had a bit of a purge of social media accounts, primarily because Sands and I have closed down our ALStrays Rehoming and Transport project and will be taking a break before we continue our animal welfare activities through No Boundaries Cricket Club. Having posted a while back about my lack of love for WhatsApp I have muted notifications on every group other than ones relevant to a specific games that I am playing in, not least because I came off the pitch the other day to over 700 unread notifications!!! Add in the increasing toxicity of X (formally known as Twitter) where I have drawn very clear lines between my personal account and the No Boundaries account and I am pretty much having a Digital Detox.

Rained off although was not playing as wanted to rest up before the Quarter Final on Tuesday

Was coaching/umpiring not playing but ….. rained off.

Continue to really enjoy these and they are evolving as more people are turning up and more are wanting one to one sessions. We had four groups working on various skills and as a rule each group is of a similar ability, with a whole group activity at the beginning and end, which includes a chat on how people have found the session.

Staffordshire v Lincolnshire

We are through to the semi final after a very solid team performance secured a 100 run victory. Not my best day with the bat (a rather ugly 11 as I really struggled with the slow pace of pitch and ball and the rather erratic bowling) but bowled well and fielded well. My main issue was the 3 hour drive in the morning which pretty much undid all the benefit of resting for the week as my glutes and hamstrings really struggle.

We don’t know who we play on the semi final yet as the Essex v Worcestershire game was rained off and is being played next week but if it is Essex I am going to drive down on the Monday night and stay in a hotel about 45 mins from the ground and the stay in it again on the Tuesday night so I don’t put body under pressure with the drive.

Next Week

I would have liked a couple of weeks off to work on the glutes and hamstrings but I am required on Saturday for Church Eaton and want to play in the charity game on Sunday, even though it is in Southampton!!! After that I will do the coaching on Monday night but not have a net and will then rest up until the Semi Final, with a net on the Monday afternoon.
