Unique £50,000 whisky to be sold in Gretna
The only bottle of Dalmore Zenith whisky in the world is to be sold in Gretna.
Having been on display at the Gretna Gateway retail village last month, the rare whisky is to be sold with a reserve price of £50,000.
The release is exclusive to The Whisky Shop and could attract a price of up to £100,000 – a portion of which will be donated to the British Red Cross.
Whisky lovers keen to purchase the bottle must submit sealed bids by November 5th to the Whisky Shop chairman Ian Bankier or by visiting a store. However those unable to afford the bottle can enter a prize draw in store or on line at www.thewhiskyshop.com to win a free 5cl sample bottle.
Distilled at the Dalmore Distillery north of Inverness, the single malt whisky consists of three vintage stocks of Dalmore single malt whisky.
The Dalmore 1951, Dalmore 1964 and a Dalmore from 1926 will combine to make a truly unique bottle of whisky – set to become the most expensive sold this year.
Whisky Shop Chairman Ian Bankier will donate a share of the fee to The British Red Cross. Ian commented, “We have selected this charity because, like Scotch, it is a British institution with a truly international reach. In the past 12 months the Red Cross has been active in Libya, Japan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Haiti – to name just a few of the things it does.”
The Dalmore distillery has a habit of producing historic whiskies. In 2011 the Dalmore Tinitas was the first bottle to fetch over £100,000 with a further 62 year old Dalmore Sinclair selling for £125,000 later that same year.
